PHYSICAL BASICS
Our sample was polished to a silvery, mirror-like finish. Presumably, this
is the "Titanium" finish. The X-Finity 500 is also available in glossy
black and blue finishes. The cables are all silver, which certainly looks cool,
but it also makes it impossible to know at a glance what voltage is carried
on each individual wire. This should not be an issue for the majority of users,
since all of the connectors are keyed and can only be inserted one way. However,
it does reduce the potential for modding and could be hazardous to those who
like to rewire the connectors (to provide a lower voltage to a fan, for example).
To boost the bling factor even more, the internal fan glows bright blue whenever
the unit is on. The X-Finity is for showing off, not sleeping next to!

Nice and shiny perfect for the easily distracted and/or amused.

How reflective is it? Your girlfriend could do her makeup in it.
The rear grill has the same hex-shaped holes as most other power supplies,
but the individual holes are smaller than usual. From the look
of things, this is a side effect of the nickel plating which coats all surfaces
of the casing. Airflow is likely to be a little more impeded than usual, but
the difference is small.

The rear grill has the standard hex-stamped pattern, but the individual
holes are smaller than usual.
There are four small holes on the inner face of the X-Finity, presumably to
cut down on back pressure and provide some cooling for the warmer components
on this side of the power supply. The voltage selector switch is also located
on the inner face, where it is safe from curious bystanders (Ooh! A red switch!
Let's see what it does...).

There's two small vents on the inner face.
