Recently, we've seen many new names in the power supply market. Corsair, Zalman,
and Mushkin are just a few. We don't know whether retail PSUs represent such
a growth market, but it's what these various component companies seem to believe.
For Lian Li, the move to power supplies is not as big of a step as it might
have been for, say, Corsair, since Lian Li already makes computer cases.
Lian Li was very enthusiastic about us reviewing their HPC-series power supplies,
so they sent us the HPC-500 and HPC-600, 500W and 600W PSUs, respectively. We
decided to test the HPC-600 first, and see how it handled our infamous power
supply tester. If it proved successful, we could run the HPC-500 through it's
paces to see how it compares.

The HPC series comes with quite a nice list of features. Lian Li
is known for high-end aluminum cases, so this is no surprise.
