for such a low price (it's difficult to buy from a manufacturer, resale and still make money for ~$0.50 per fan), and the fact that foxconn is a rather large manufacturer of computer parts, i'd say it's more likely that foxconn made these fans themselves and they went straight to xoxide from the fac...

these fans are tricky to get a hold of, i can understand why they decided against importing them. i've had no luck at all trying to contact yate loon about minimum order quantities, fob pricing, etc., but i assume they're pricing them around $2.50 per 120mm fan, minimum order of $6000 or so. then yo...

the mobile athlon xps are the same as their desktop brethren - the only difference is the bridges that are cut or joined on the package. no soi or anything, just lower default vcore and powernow capabilities. unfortunately nforce2 boards are not able to utilise powernow, which means they won't be ab...

i think the biggest stumbling block here is a lack of objective measurements from the same starting points. this is one thing i learned very early from hydrogenaudio - without repeatable objective facts, any argument will meet resitance. what we need is this - identical case/cpu/ram/vga/fan/hdd conf...

the temps in the psu never exceed the manufacturers defined thermal limits. sure colder always means longer lasting. but their warrented for like 3-5 years at their specified temp ranges. depends on the manufacturer - i think we've all had some experience with the $3-in-bulk rebadged psu's that go ...

i'm looking at the same price range, however with a pci-express motherboard. the best option i've found (keep in mind i'm still an overclocker at heart) is a 128mb 128-bit geforce 6200, attempting to unlock the 4 latent pipelines and overclocking the core/memory. from 300/550 4-pipeline spec speeds,...

hot air going through psu's should be avoided where possible. as an approximate rule, for every increase of 10 degrees celcius (over 40 degrees) you half the lifetime of a capacitor, so venting air from a hot cpu could shave a lot off your psu's lifetime, not to mention speed up its thermistor-contr...

Geforce 6200 memory cooling?

i'm thinking about going with the 128mb 128bit 6200, hopefully getting one that can be soft-modded to run 8 pipelines and clock up to 500/650. my only qualm is with cooling the memory - the arctic cooling silencers that claim to support the 6200 have zero airflow for the memory, nor does the silence...

inwin z720t matx case?

as seen here . nice looking fan grills (and they could very easily be snipped), 92mm rear fan, rather odd vent thing, but does anything stick out as a potential problem? it can be found here for $31 from a highly-rated place. i'm thinking of pairing this with a s939 matx pci-e board (the msi rs480m2...

on this point though, is there any effort going into consolidating such numerical review data into a table for one-stop comparisons? kind of like storagereview.com's performance database. as more and more components are reviewed, browsing among them to compare figures will become more and more of a ...

why no heatpipes making direct cpu contact?

of all the heatsinks i've seen using heatpipes, they always seem to be jammed into some holes that were drilled in a metal block, with a few mm between them and the die (including whatever bonding agent is between the heatpipe and its surrounding metal. is there any reason we haven't seen heatpipes ...

i'm trying to source these fans to resell in the usa (among others), and all glacialtech told me was "there are no usa sales channels." great. a canada reseller wants $7 US per fan in bulk, which is very high for 120mm fans, so i'm seeing if any other countries are more favorable (australia seems to...

Panaflo 80mm L-speed with RPM - FBA08A12L2EX

just been scouring the net for quiet fans (i'm hoping to start a webshop selling only quiet fans in the usa - globes, yate loons, xinruilians, etc.) and stumbled onto these novelties - Panaflo FBA08A12L2EX fans, same specs as L1A's, only with RPM sensing. i didn't recognise the part#, and thought i'...

I just recieved my order of fans from CompGeeks today. And there's a sleeper(surprise) among these fans. It's the all-silver 80mm aluminum frame fan for $3.50 called Typhoon . This thing is quiet, quieter than the Yate Loon aluminum fan with the black fins. The model # on the label is FM802512M. Th...

ah not to worry :) the fans i linked to were the non-yate-loon ones listed here for $4.45, but i believe all the ones you tested were the yate loon models for $5 and $3.75 respectively. i am interested in the FM802512M fans due to Bluefront's encouraging post , and found a bunch of fans with the sam...

Ed:

just wondering, were these fans among those you tested and found wanting?

fan 1, fan 2, fan 3.

i've been looking to purchase some fans of these design (both aluminum-frame and plastic-frame) but if they're that bad, i'll keep looking.

NMB B39 speed?

just stumbled onto these: NMB 3110KL-04W-B39-P52 80mm here for $4. this has tachometer output from the product code (the 9 in B39 plus the P code {52} being greater than 49), but how will it sound when undervolted? the 3110KL-04W-B19 is very smooth to my ears. also I don't think this will be as fast...
