Or get a pair of these: CAT# HS-80 Only $1.00 ea! Thanks for the link Rusty, I am going to pick some up locally in a bit and will report back. It looks like 2 on each side will do the job just right as the hard drives are 6 inches long. I just have a question on mounting them. By the design on thes...

As I said, I am just a bit obssesive;) I also sit in the room with the t.v. off and read and it is very quie...

Matt-man, I just switched my stock Sony T60 Directivo fan to a Panaflo 60mm 60L1A. Made a big difference. I replaced the stock Quantum hard drive with a Seagate Barracuda IV 7200rpm. Not only is it quieter but the menus and programs etc. come up much faster than the old 5400rpm. I also took the whol...

The way the fan is enclosed in metal it does not pull a...

Many people in the Tivo forums narrowed it down to the Samsungs and Seagate's for quietness. A lot of people (including myself) are running the Tivo's without the cover (for cooling) so it is important to get it as quiet as possible in the livingroom area. Although I just put a Seagate Cuda IV in mi...

I did something similar on a computer. I used foam earplugs to isolate the fan from the case. I had to cut them in half but they work well since you have to roll them between your fingers first, and once they are in they expand back to their original size....

I also just bought a Panaflo L and is it surprisingly very loud at 12V, much, much louder than my stock Dell JMC/Datech which I will not replace with the Panaflo now. At 5 volts I found the Panaflo to be very quiet and not too bad at 7V, but there is not enough airflow to my liking. At 12V the airfl...

I think the reason they don't show prices are that those foams are all priced way too high and people would just leave the site. I guess by calling, maybe they think you are one step closer to buying them? I can't imagine it costs too much to make them. Ah what do I know.... On the foambymail site, ...

Different Firmware versions in Seagate Barracuda 80GB

I just bought a brand new Barracuda 80GB ATA IV that I was going to install in my Tivo. Herb, I am curious as to what model/specs you have for a Dell. Will the Silenx work with your Dell as some have Proprietary psu wiring (I have the 4550/3.06 and mine does not). Also do you have the stock Dell green cpu/case fan ducting and if so, how are you going to replace it when you put the Zalm...

I have a Dell Dimension 4550, 3.06Ghz. CPU has heat sink with no fan attached. The only fan other than the power supply is a case fan that is hooded to the cpu/heatsink.
