ever since 754 processors have been out, the amd has been always the better choice besides for those freak, 2 hours a month moments of multimedia encoding. Yeah, Like, I do that all the time. I just have soooo many home videos of my non existant family I need to transfer, or oh yeah, that claymation...

Hm, Ok, I will give it a go then. I would love to have one of these lian li's become dead quiet, that would be a pleasing accomplishment. I probably would use that case for every computer that still conforms to atx standards in the future. I keep buying non lian-li cases wishing i bought one! i tihn...

Yeah, I am wondering about this anti-aluminum bias myself with a possible new dampening build I want to begin next week. I want a pimped out Lian li with that door on the front. That solid, sealable door. I want to put 1/4 inch super soundproofing mat from http://soundproofing.org/sales/prices.html ...

I am possibly the stingiest member of SPCR, so my reason to avoid the Phantom is extremely simple--it costs too much! If I want a fanless PSU, I'll take the cheapest PSU I have lying around and remove the fan. I agree with Tobias that the hard drive is the most annoying sound in the system. You can...

Zalman is indeed 'better than most', but out of the box not often good enough for the Silence Purist. Mostly you have to change the fans and then they get really good. Most of the time you will find that brands like Seasonic, Nexus and FSP have better and less noisy powersupplies in their lineup. T...

Not many amd64 mobo's support undervolting at all. I have heard rumors about 90nm ones (not sempron, I dont consider them for performance) that they do not want to go very high in terms of OC'ing.

I would gather a 2.0 ghz 90 nm on a DFI board would be best to test all of this. maybe gigabyte.

I was thinking of replacing my duct with an exhaust fan, maybe angled a little because it's not directly over the CPU. Might be a nuiance if you want to open the case however. this is a very loud suggestion. Sides of cases should be solid at least, and better yet, covered with soundproofing junk. I...

thermal grease and its application make up for more degree differences than copper or aluminum.

Yeah, people claim some of those mesh fancy aluminum ones are actually kinda quiet. yes, kinda. But impossible to make really quiet. Sound insulation is a good idea in any case, that's a rule. unless you are running near hot hot/passive, then I would hesitate to add it (or not even bother to) Cooler...

yes the coolermaster is a wide case that is built a brick sh$$-house. The front drive cover, being rigid, thick aluminum on a S curve shape, seems to block a lot of sound from the front top where the cd drives are. The problem I see is the bottom vent for the front fan. its not a grill type. Ialways...

steel is a dirty material, steel that is in computers is one of the worst grades ever. We used to call it japanese steel, by far, the most resembling the strength of a paper bag ever in steel history. A junky composite of recycled steels. Unfortunately, this is not outdoors and the heat differential is not great. the outside air flow helps wick the air out of the house, also, fireplace has so much heat, it rises rapidly, creating suction, further propelling the stuff out. The air at the bottom is also more dense, as it rises, it deco...
