Re: disappointed: E8400 undervolting

Update for those still interested in this ancient CPU. Put my memory out of the equation by lowering the memory multiplier. Then I lowered the VCORE as low as I could (0.9) and set the CPU multiplier to 6, and finally began raising the FSB. I managed to reach an FSB of 360 (6x360 = 2160Mhz) and yet ...

It seems I´ve come to a dead end. The lowest available VIM for E8400 in RMClock is 1.1 volt.

Using BIOS I am able to access lower values, but since I´m in need of dynamic adjustment, being able to change it in Windows is crucial.

Is there some way to overcome the minimum SpeedStep available VIM?

disappointed: E8400 undervolting

Gigabyte EP35-DS3 Corsair 520 watt PSU Latest bios (F3) Intel E8400 Stepping 0, Revision E0 I am only able to undervolt it at full speed to 1.1 volt. Also, having activated SpeedStep, using RM Clock, I am only able to combine FIDS with a minimum value of 1.1 volt. (In bios I can use much lower) Is i...

According to earlier posts in this thread, the HIS Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 is not quiet enough. But have anyone considered undervolting the card and taking full control of the fan? I.e. set up some kind of dynamc function that reduces the voltage, and fan-speed to near zero RPM?

I have little to no experience what so ever about electronics. And the PW-200-V and Dell D2-A 200 W power brick, are just strange words to me. Do you know where I could read more about this stuff?

Thanks all for your feedback! When Strid wrote PicoPSU my thoughts turned to finding a case without PSU. But I also started thinking about MINI-ITX. Speaking of ITX I found two motherboards from Intel, DQ45EK and DG45FC. But after reading a review about the later of the two boards here at SPCR, the ...

jackylman thanks for the input. I was planning on transfering a Corsair HX520W and a pretty big case that I plan to add some noise-reduction material to. Size is not an issue in this situation.

thanks

Thanks all for the replies.

It's right, I was thinking about ddr2 and 320gb and the E6550 seems to really suit my needs. Also interesting point about getting DDR2-800, definently will follow that advice.

Perhaps anyone could recommend a good moderboard and HFS?

Medium fast intel core 2 duo

Hi guys I've been off for a couple of years and would appreciate some guidelines, thanks. These are my thoughts: *Intel Core 2 Duo G0 stepping (FSB 1333) *Some after market HSF *RAM (2x1024) that supports 1333 *Motherboard properties: - FSB1333 support - No fans - Hardware support variable fan speed...

The card I linked to is in fact a AGP card, and it´s hard to tell whether they pcb layout has this 45-degree GPU angle rotation. I´m also thinking about the red heatsink that is placed down to the right from the GPU,, if that might ruin my plans of using a ZM80D? I also think I´ve read somewhere ...

I notise a very big difference between the fan spinning @ 1500 RPM and 2500 rpm. I belive that I need to lower my cpu fan to 1500 rpm to be able to hear my current chassi fan (default antec sonata one). Is that the same for you?

I need something to cool my 9800 pro without a fan. I do play alot of counter-strike. alt:s that I´ve read about: ZM80A-HP <- to heavy?
