i used a vm-101 on a bfg 6800gt oc. with a 120mm fan running at 7v next to it, i was getting 90c full load (24c ambient). since a vanilla 6800 should run cooler, i don't think you'll have problems as long as you have some airflow over the heatsink. and yes you'll have to provide your own ramsinks (e...

my brother has a zalman 7000b alcu on a 3200+ venice oc'd to 2.4ghz (3800+ speed) on stock voltage. temps never exceed 50c with the fan on low (ambient 24c/75f). i'm not sure if there is a difference between the A and B version of that cooler. hope this helps.

they're young-lins. i can't compare them to any other 120mm fan as they are the only ones I own. with the 5v mod they're practically inaudible in my case; i'm very pleased with them. also they're real cheap.

i can't say anything for gigaram, but i do own a gig of patriots based on tccd (2-2-2 timings). i also own a gig of corsair value ram and some corsair 2-3-3-6. all perform about the same, as far as i can tell. i use them in similar setups (a64 machines, overclocked with dividers), and they're all pr...

i just reseated it. one of the ramsinks was pushing up against the pipes, hurting the contact with the gpu. so i took off the ramsink and replaced it with a lower-profile one. temps are now 80-81c at load, with RTHDRIBL running for 45 minutes. fins are still moderately warm to the touch, though. shr...

i also replaced the stock heatsink on my bfg 6800gt with a vm-101. i have a young-lin 120mm fan at 7v blowing through the fins. with RTHDRIBL running for 30 minutes, i get a peak temperature of 100c. i get similar temps running cs: source in a window. i've touched the fins, and they feel moderately ...

i just installed the new smartpower 500w to replace the 200w enhance psu running my new rig (a64, gig o' ram, k8n neo2, 6800gt, no case). it's completely inaudible during bootup, but once i get to the windows desktop it starts to give off a high-pitched whine. i'm not sure what it is (coil? electric...
