Where to put dampening?
I bought some Wurth sound dampening material for my new SLK3000B, I put it on the panel door, and behind the 5.5" and 3.5" drive covers. The left side panel of my case has a large sheet of egg carton foam on it, and my hard drive is suspended in a 5.5" bay. I have a bit of the Wurth left and was won...

Help choosing a case
Alright, I started a thread earlier trying to decide on a heatsink, and was planning on going with an SI-97 w/ 92mm Nexus. Now I have a new option, I have two possible scenarios, which should I go for? Scenario 1: Antec SLK3000B Forton 400W 120mm PSU Thermalright SI-97 2xNexus 120mm 1xNexus 92mm Arc...

Like I already said, Greenlyph or Mysterybyte, not Robotnik are the places to look in your area. Both have the Antec P180's, Mysterybyte had P150's last time I looked, and both carry the Antec SLK3000B's, all of which are highly recommended around here. I guess I might as well say I'm not a big robo...

OK, I've decided for sure on the SI-97 now, thanks ... My next question, I've seen a few people mount 120mm fans to them by forcing the fan clips outward, is there any (major) advantage to this over using a 90mm fan? And is there any downside (ie possibly not fitting)? Also, the tri-cool fan that co...

Help choosing a heatsink
My income tax is going to be in soon, and besides buying a new camera, I'm looking at shutting up my pc. I poked around here a but earlier and asked some suggestions, but ended up having a bunch of car bills and couldn't do anything. Now it's a go though. I'm planning on . . . Antec SLK3000B (suspen...

What about a Vantec EZ-Swap 2? I realize it's an actively cooled enclosure, but I'm sure I could remove the fan and add some foam to it to quiet it down. Anyone used one of these and know if it works? I searched the forum, and only got one useful hit, and the poster never really said how good it was...

jaganath is right, I'm pretty much broke until the end of the summer when I have a few loans paid off. So right now, anything I have to do needs to be cheap. I enabled AAM on both my drives and it basically killed seek noise, but they're still the loudest part of my system. I'm leaning toward suspen...

Suspension vs. Soft mounting?
I'm making plans to quiet my computer down in the coming weeks and the hard drives seem to be the biggest culprit noise wise right now. I have two WD Cav 80GB-SE's. One is older (silver top) and very loud, the other is newer (black top) and much quieter. The original plan was to put wurth sound damp...

To the silencing testbench Batman! haha, I need a utility belt with Bat Anti-Shark spray to say that I did a little poking and prodding this evening, the foam made a big difference, and while I was at it I tried one HDD at a time and found one was louder than the other. One is a black topped ...

First (real) attempt at some silence
I'm making my first real attempt at making my pc quieter, silence might be hard to get with my budget and current gear. Anyway, I'm gonna lay out my plan and ask some questions, hopefully I can get some help. First, my case (Antec SLK2650-BQE) has a single 80mm intake, I'm going to cut a 120mm in fr...

Well I found a few solutions, thanks guys. I'll prob rip out the front grill this weekend when i do some cable management etc. I think I'm gonna swap my round IDE cables for some neatly placed ribbons, and the front plastic cage is both rattling and restricting airflow, so zip ties sound like they m...

Well I typed that post at like 1am, and notcied a few mistakes word wise etc, but you guys get my point. So as far as the grills, since I have the honeycomb style, maybe it isn't worth cutting them out? I'd really rather not if I don't have to. And the 7V thing seems to be the same thing I hear ever...

I'm new, need some advice
Hi everyone, my first port, but I've been trolling for a while. Here's the deal, I don't think I'm as hardcore as most of you, but I'd like to have a generally quiet system, but still supply good cooling, much like everyone else. Right now I'm running Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (bought it for the passive h...
