The new Silent-Pipe II cards mentioned in the press release are now listed on the Gigabyte website:
GV-NX66T128D-SP (Nvidia GeForce 6600GT with 128MB GDDR3 memory)
GV-NX66T256DE (Nvidia GeForce 6600GT with 256MB DDR2 memory)
Shouldn't be too long now before they are available to buy.

Nexus Real Silent case fan vs. Yate Loon D12SL-12
One more question / point of curiosity... According to the SPCR recommended fans page, the Yate Loon D12BL-12 (ball bearing) has a noise rating of 35dB. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article63-page2.html And according to the Yate Loon website, the Yate Loon D12SL-12 (sleeve bearing) has a higher noi...

Does the Seasonic S12 fan controller use PWM?
Below is some more information from Seasonic support: Does the fan controller provide 12V to the fan connectors for a few seconds when the PSU is switched on (to make sure the fans start spinning), before it reduces their speed / voltage? "No. This kind of design will let the circuit layout complex ...

Does the Seasonic S12 fan controller use PWM?
Here is the offical word from Seasonic support:
"The fan control design of the series does not use the PWM rather the linear control circuit, which use the thermistor to drive the continuous voltage."

Nexus Real Silent case fan vs. Yate Loon D12SL-12
Hi everyone, In my research on this topic so far, I have gathered the following information: The Nexus Real Silent case fan (120mm) and the Yate Loon D12SL-12 (120mm) are exactly the same fan, made by the same manufacturer, with the only difference being that the Nexus has an added inline resistor t...

Does the Seasonic S12 fan controller use PWM?
Hi everyone, Does anyone know if the Seasonic S12 fan controller uses PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to control the speed of the fans? The reason I ask is because I read that this can cause noise problems with Yate Loon and Nexus fans... http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?p=194796#194796 A...

High Efficiency PSU recommendations?
Yeah, it was only after I saw that PC Case Gear had started stocking them (i.e. that I didn't have to order one from overseas) that I started considering the Seasonic PSU's as a serious option.

Case fan mounting - How important is the seal?
Hi everyone, When mounting a fan to the case, how important is it to make sure that there is an "airtight" seal between the fan and the case? To give a bit of an example of what I'm on about here: If I were to use the often mentioned "foam and cable ties" case fan mounting method, I could either cut...

Athlon64 CPU Heat - Venice vs. San Diego
Hi everyone, I would like to know if there is any difference between the amount of heat generated by an Athlon64 3500+ CPU (Venice core - 512KB L2 cache) and a 3700+ (San Diego core - 1024KB L2 cache), given that they both run at the same speed (2.2GHz) and the only difference between the two cores ...

High Efficiency PSU recommendations?
Hi everyone, In regards to the PSU. The reason why I'm planning on going with the 500W version instead of the 430W version is because I would prefer to get my hands on one of the slightly more efficient SS-xxxHT (rev A2) models, as opposed to one of the slightly less efficient SS-xxxHB models (given...

High Efficiency PSU recommendations?
Thanks for the replies everyone! And thanks to jermaink for replying to both my posts :) Given the suggestions so far, and after doing a fair bit more research, I think I'm going to go with the Seasonic S12-500 PSU. Its around 85% - 87% efficient at standard loads and appears to be a fairly good qua...

High Efficiency PSU recommendations?
Hi everyone, I'm planning on building a new "silent" PC and as such I'm looking to get my hands on a good quality high efficiency PSU, preferably one that uses a single 120mm fan. This is for the following reasons: a). I want a PSU that doesn't generate a large amount of heat. This is in order to he...
