I'd say the strong have more power (rights) than the weak as a clarification of the above point. With capitalism, money=power, so rich=strong. Those who hate multinational companies might point to that as a reason they shouldn't exist, you take rich/poor to a national level and thousands if not mill...

I've used automotive manifold ducting (bought cheaply at most auto stores) to create a heat-resistant tube running from the outside of the case to the cpu heatsink. It's very rigid and holds it shape. You could attach a case fan to one end and blow outside air directly onto the cpu using this method...

Since the pipe felt equally warm along the entire length, and as you said it will dissipate heat at any point if that's where your cooler is located, I wonder then if a pipe were wrapped around the entire case, with the ends coming together at the cpu would work well. You'd have the pipe clamped/fit...

Well totally silent isn't really needed unless you live in a sound chamber or something along those lines, so I think you could make a system that's "effectively silent". The new Aerocase videocard cooler angled to fit with a large cpu cooler like the Ninja, some quiet 120mm fans mounted to prevent ...

I wonder when this system is inserted inside a closed case, whether it would help to insulate the pipes at their midpoint so that the pipes are not dissipating heat back into the case near the cpu. Ultimately a good deal of the efficiency will be tied to how cool you keep the cool end, so a water co...

Actually this thread can help shed light on the assumption that overclocking requires a big fat PSU, which draws more power and results in more heat/cooling/noise. An OC enthusiast who also wants to minimize the cooling needed and thus noise can see that so long as the various voltages are stable a ...

Libraries don't offer copying services to members, they let them borrow the original media to listen to for a couple days. You can hand your original CD to a friend to share it without breaking the law. The library is just like a video store, except they don't charge as much if at all (mine charges ...

An unfortunate side effect of getting rid of laws which limit what you can do at the expense of others, is that eventually someone will take advantage of you using those same new freedoms. Take the argument for downloading music as an example-some people download it for free even though they should ...

Just use short bursts of air, not long continuous streams. You can put your finger on the fan to prevent it from spinning too. I expect that the other issue is that the compressed air is pushing on just 1 side of the fan, rather than evenly on all sides, twisting the blade as it spins. This would ca...

Would you be able to take the 'C/W factor at a given voltage, and multiply that by the wattage you wish to test? Here we see the Ninja offers .27C/W at 7V. Multiply by 125W and you get 33.75C over ambient. Then you compare your ambient temps to the max safe temp of the cpu. Is that how you could tel...

As long as the visual tool used has a set scale I can see where you could make comparisons. If the image scales to the greatest noise peak on each sample though, it would be a problem I guess. It would just seem a person would have to train themselves to mentally map noise to a charts bands so that ...

Both the lower fan blowing up into the case and the ducted cpu fan blowing into the case are providing positive pressure, and the only exhaust is at the top, aided by thermal flow. Re: Less airflow equals cooler temps.....
A temperature change does not imply a change in total heat when the airflow is altered as well. In your example, the air might be colder, but it will not cool the cabin as well as with a higher fan speed. Yup, say if reducing airflow drops teh temperature by 15%, but you have 40% less airflow due t...

Cool ideas, my main concern was mounting to a pretty thin piece of wood, since the PSU will be snug up against the other side of the same panel and the wood screws would poke out the other side. I figured I could dremel the exposed tips off as well. I agree with using some soft washers behind the MB...
