77 rpm? Wow that low but it barely moves air that speed. But I am still impressed. Yes it is very low. I am playing around with speedfan this morning. With a single fan in my Antec fusion case/mini Ninja combo, 77 rpm is reliable, and will keep the system cool enough at idle. It ramps up though pre...

I wonder if the voltage regulator is a bit overkill for generating a 3-5V pull-up. How about a using a zener diode instead perhaps? I understand you only put this together from things you had handy, I am not critisizing your build. Also the only information I have about how the PWM signal works is ...

Argh... You are absolutley right there is a severe mistake in the schematic. I will fix this before someone gets led astray... I have just come back from getting toothache fixed. I must have been really muddled with the pain... ***That should be the schematic fixed no.. Sorry for anyconfusion caused...

My circuit for using 3 pin fans on 4 pin PWM mobo headers
Been an age since I last posted here. Apologies if I am teaching my Granny to suck eggs here, but I searched not just here but all over and couldn't find a circuit published anywhere that does this. The only similar circuit I could find anywhere was just blatantly wrong. http://i65.photobucket.com/a...

Justblair@ Homosexuality is a behaviour that appears to occur naturally. Studies have repeatedly shown that other animals also have homosexuals within their communities. Animals also have many behaviours and characteristics that differ from humans (ie spiders/praying mantis eating mates). Picking a...

I reject the notion that nature intends anything. Stuff happens accidentally all the time. The probability that any one thing will occur is 1 divided by the number of probable events, given that the number of probable events is infinite, that gives us one divided by infinity, which when considered ...

I reject the notion that nature intends anything. Stuff happens accidentally all the time. Homosexuality occurs in animals as well as humans, it is not an abhoration of nature, but a quirk of nature. IMO I take your point though that natural=good is a contentious suposition. The other counter to tha...

Unless humanity is altered, perhaps so that reproduction is not enjoyable but something similar without the consequences takes its place, we must exist as we are. Is that not a description of gay sex? I am being a bit controversial I am sure, but as a heterosexual aethiest, I am still a bit unsure ...

When dealing with car windows they use a special tool to drive air bubbles from under the tint - it looks like a rubber spattle. There's no way the bubbles can dissolve or come out by themselves. The stuff I used suggested that a few bubbles would not be an issue. The bubbles started off life with ...

How long overdue is this update then??? I have not been lazy though I have made some progress.. First of all the bad news. The window tint did not take on the perspex. I dont know why, but I got too many bubbles in between the tint and the glex. This was frustrating to say the least. So I was left w...

what size are the gel packs you used and how many did it take for the enclosure? I'll edit the post with the exact dimesions of the gel packs when I get home, in the meanwhile I'll estimate them to be 170mm x 115mm x 10mm They were a no-name brand, so little chance that I can find a link for you. d...

Cool... From what I have read you will no doubt be happy with your purchase.. In the sort of system you are running, the (albiet) low amount of fan noise that you have will no doubt mask any small differences there are between the two options anyhow. I am taking an educated guess that the difference...

I posted in the other thread you started on this topic the prices that I paid... I cant believe that the gel packs are so much, where have you been pricing them? I got mine out a discount supermarket for a fraction of that price. I live in rip off Britain, prices for goods are normally higher here. ...

I spent.... £17.80 for the Hammond enclosure, and a couple of pounds for the gel packs. So the whole thing cost me less than £20, a few pence more if you add in the elastic that I used to suspend it. Thats quite a bit cheaper than I see hd enclosures going for in the UK at the moment. To top that,...

It should be fine. The fans draw so litttle amps that the power supply should operate no problem. If it doesn't? I am a very clumsy "dabbler" when it comes to electronics.. my ambition far outweighs my skill! In my experiance though when I have pushed a power supply beyond its limits even the cheape...

I read this review more thoroughly than before. I think it is an interesting concept. Clearly the cfm figure is out of the ball park. The rest of the figures though dont seem quite as unrealistic. Basicly looking at the table, the author is reporting a 7c drop using the ioniser. This is compared to ...

What do you want your case temps to be monitored so that you can auto control fan speeds, or are you just wanting a readout of the temp. If its the former and your ambitious you can make a temp sensor for your case that can be read by temperature monitoring software such as speedfan. There is a good...

You mentioned the homebrew being a tight fit in a 5 1/4 bay. I used a flanged 187X119X56mm hammond box, this would give that extra bit of space. Mine isn't in a drive bay right enough. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/justblair/IMG_0837.jpg http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h219/justblair/IMG_...

In my case my mobo has a 4 pin riser that connects directly to the SMB (system management bus) bus. It wasn't labelled, but the manual for the mobo identified it. It was in a standard .1' 5 pin header, with one pin removed. I used a molex 1' 5 crimp pin enclosure, leaving one of the holes cableless....
