I will be installing the S1 on my 8800GT using only the things provided by the standard S1 package tonight. I'll let you know how it works out. So i just installed the S1 package. Cleaned up my card after removing the stock cooler and put on the heatsinks. How are you finding those stock ramsinks? ...

Installed a S1 on my 8800 GT today, I removed the black plastic and didn't use the Ram sinks provided, I used some copper Enzotech BCC9 instead. My case has limited airflow so I mounted a D12SL-12 @ 6V (900 rpm) on the S1 using zip ties. These were the temp with the stock cooler. Idle: 60c Load: 99...

Anyone actually using the ramsinks in the S1 kit? I noticed everyone is using other stickier ones. Once you factor in the cost of the additional 12? ramsinks for the ram and mosfets.. The S1 way is actually pretty damn expensive! as much as a HR 03.. i'd say Which begs the question.. is the S1 super...

I'm curious.. ultrachrome.. I took a look at the picture here http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/244741-29-aftermarket-8800-cooling-information I can't figure what kinda of heatsink you attached to the mosfets. Did you use BGA ram sinks? If so, do you think these would work on the card? http://www.di...

The stock fan setting is 29% which is not bad noise wise (and definitely not "silent") but it is not comparable to a Zalman fan. You might be able to turn it down for quieter idle but gaming at 40% and higher is pretty loud. I haven't seen the benchmarks but if the ATI is close, you might choose it...

Does any one that owns a 8800 GT find the stock cooler really THAT loud? How does it fair if you let it idle or run 2D tasks? Is the noise generated comparable to a Zalman VF700 @ 5v/7v? I ask because I'm ready to jump on the 8800 GT, but I've heard that the HD 3850 is incredibly quiet by margins. A...

I've hit 3 more fabric shops and finally managed to find these rounded elastic. Bought 4 yards of the stuff.. only costed me 2 bucks. :) However, I could only find 1/8" max like the original P150 o-rings. Is this sufficient? So that I won't have to be worried about it in a few years time? Mike, you ...

I took a gander at the stretch magic.. it looks a bit thin.. I'm not too sure about the bungee/shock cords either.. i hope they are fabric.. I'll find out at Home depot tomorrow. But.. if anyone that lives in Canada knows where I can get this strangely common "rounded clothing elastic", please do sh...

Does the type of elastics make a difference when you build a HD suspension? And with "type" I mean, like flat elastics or rounded elastics Flat: http://www.kborland.ie/Elastics/W0325.jpg Rounded: http://www.kborland.ie/Elastics/165202.jpg Can anyone tell me where I should look for these rounded clo...

exactly.. how loud is the stock Sapphire X1950 Pro cooler? I get ringing in my ears after 20-30 minutes of the cooler running at full speed, unless I "mute" it by loud game sounds. In 2D mode, it can be made basically inaudible - you can turn the fan speed all the way down. So.. what if you don't a...

That is the exact same reason I'm getting a Q6600, for encoding xvid and x264.. I agree with that while Penryn looks to be a better choice.. A) you gotta wait till Jan 2008. and B) the price will always be higher than MSRP on launch.. say 349 USD versus 316 USD for the 2.66 GHz model. You'd probably...

HDD Enclosures - Cooler Master X Craft 360
I did a quick search and nothing came up.. so here goes. Has any one used this enclosure? Cooler Master X Craft 360.. How would it compare to the mighty Antec MX-1? As much as I love the cooling and silencing ability of the Antec.. The tool-free hot swappable feature of the 360 is too sweet to pass ...

7 x 120mm fans would certainly defeat the purpose of a "SPCR" silent computer. More fans = more noise, even if each of them are 20 db. But feature wise (CM 690), it is very nice. The esata port would come in very handy as I use that very often and hate reaching around the case to get to it. And cons...

I have a Solo and a P150.. and i'd have to say.. the NXZT looks very nice. Cooling should be great and more importantly, it fits large video cards.. which seems to be the trend lately. I don't think the partial exposure of the fan to be a problem.. i've experimented with the mesh filter on the P150....

It certainly looks nice but like others, I too am concerned with its HDD cooling. I certainly believe HDD cooling is important given the value of data. I think cooling may.. (and I say "may" since I am unsure).. affect the performance of the drive too. Since when a drive overheats, it pauses to cool...
