Maybe.. i'm just guessing here.. it's electrical noise similar to the "buzz" a X1900 XTX makes regularly even when water cooled.

From what I gather, DS3R missing Firewire (not a matter to some I guess) and a second PCI-E 16x slot (no crossfire for you!) P5K only has 5 Sata ports and not 8 like the DS3R. Sound chipset is also inferior to the DS3R. Let's say I won't upgrade for another 3 years like the Jason, won't I be better ...

DS3R does not have firewire. A real downer considering the P5K has it.

I read the Techreport comparison. I see that they also claim P5K uses more power. Another thing I noticed is the Analog Devices integrated sound which they claimed to be better. Is this true?

Also, some P5K users have been having problems with using all 6 Sata ports. Anyone have similar problems?

There is one benefit of going the 8600 route... it can decode HD DVDs in hardware, while the 8800 does not. Just something to consider if that matters to you. Seems to me all the cards out now have a shortcoming: - 8500/8600 not fast enough for games, and doesn't accelerate VC-1 video. - 8800 doesn...

an alternative to this is to buy one used with new batteries. you can probably find a bunch at ebay. this actually gets you more for less :P ex. 3000VA for 299 usd 1400VA for 129 usd and they aren't back-ups.. but smart-ups.. network grade baby! but if you can get a RS1500 for 100.. then that is a r...

The APC fan even kicks in if you reach about 90% of max load and then it gets really loud :-( I don't have buzz on mine either when it's below about 75%... my UPS is fanless.. i'm almost positive it is. I've discovered that the initial coil buzz i heard was due to the unit charging itself. Once ful...

APC SMART UPS Coil Buzz normal?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows whether the coil buzz of an APC SMART-UPS is normal. I got a SUA1000 recently and the coil buzz is quite loud. If the computer is turned on, I hear less of it but it's still audible since the computer is very quiet. The noise is high pitched and intermittent. By i...

isn't the SOLO made out of the same damping material as the P180 ? shouldn't that make it quieter? The P180 is made of al/plastic/al. The P150 has a piece of plastic on each of the side panels. It's not quite as effective as the P180 in terms of cooling/vibration dampening I disagree. I don't know ...
