Re: Skylake Memory Scaling with Kingston Predator DDR4-3000
Any reason why a speed such DDR4-2666 CL15 wasn't benchmarked as well? As CA_Steve's pricing a few posts up shows, while pricing is pretty flat, there is a bit of a jump, and I know if you're seeking optimal value then the numbers might be useful. OTOH, if pricing for memory faster than DDR4-2666 re...

Re: Icy Dock Blizzard HDD Enclosure & EZ-Dock Docking Statio
IIRC the USB interface performance limit you're seeing would probably be solved with a USB controller that supports USAP or whatnot. I don't think it's specifically a hard limit with USB 3.0 you're seeing. AsMedia controllers with appropriate driver do support this, and I believe if your testing OS ...

Heck I could've sworn I saw a 128GB for $55AR last week...
64GB SSDs really end up screwed due to insufficient dies to talk to the controller for proper performance...

Both the Techwarelabs and the Toms Hardware article would be much more interesting to the average end-user if they included more typical single-user benchmarks. That said the Techwarelabs one is not very useful at all-- measuring sequential reads and writes and access time tells us nothing we didn't...

review site that can't even get it's facts straight shouldn't be trusted. I agree there-- seeing the Aluminum vs. Copper myth alive and well on a site as major as Anandtech was extremely disappointing . But that said, if you actually read the whole article, it's quite good-- especially because Anan...

Just that different markets have different product availability. That's true, but insofar as a sufficiently large list of available choices-- well, SPCR, Jonnyguru, Anandtech, Techreport, etc. all seem to do reviews as far as they can sustain, so if that's not enough for you... well, you're outta l...

I personally am looking forward to the Samsung 22"... I happen to find 1920x1200 on 24" to be a bit too coarse, so doing 1920x1200 on 22" should be just about right. YMMV, of course. :) The Lenovo L220X is pretty damned good, but I'm holding off til more competition arrives (preferably IPS or *VA)...

Panaflos are pretty old designs. The Hydrowave bearing lasts a very long time for a sleeve bearing design, but the noise/airflow isn't great compared to the latest in fans. Panaflos were bought by the dozens, hundreds, and thousands back in `97-`03 or so til newer designs came to market. I wouldn't ...

The huge difference is unexpected- I would expect it to be more consistent than that between samples. Is a WD6400AAKS review on the way too? As for the Samsung F1, the 1TB's and 750GB's are easily available in the USA, I'm not sure about Canada though. Speculation that the 750GB is a 3x250GB platter...

Nice. :) Power consumption results make sense too-- they don't track perfectly with Xbitlabs numbers, but they're more than close enough... which is useful to me and many others-- as quite a few reviews all with their own power consumption numbers and testing procedures for 'em have quite a bit of v...
