Ok, so I got experimenting:
The black/red are definitively ground and +12V because when I put 5V on them, the fan starts spinning.
The resistance from ground to yellow wire is over 200 MOhm.
The resistance from ground to brown wire is 14 kOhm.
Any suggestions? I'm not an electrical engineer.

HELP with fan swap on x-650
Hello! I had some problems with the fan of x-650 making some really annoying high-pitch sounds, so i decided to swap the fan (returning it to the Seasonic it is not an option). So, I got it all opened and found out that the 4-pin head of my chosen replacement fan (Arctic cooling F12-PWM) doesn't mat...

Judging from your name and fan choice, you have to be from the same place as I. I bought sharkoon s701520m 70mm, 2000rpm, "21dBA". At 2000 rpm The fan is ... mediocre. Not particularly loud or quiet. It definitively produces noise and vibration. By my judging it would be a bit louder that 21dBA, mor...

Do you know how good you solution is, noise-wise, compared to other SPCR common materials used (sewing strap, elastic rubber band (textile-style used in clothes), sorbothane)? Well, I can't compare since I haven't tried those other solutions. Before I had the problem of Sonata's side panel vibratin...

Most simple HDD suspension for Sonata and similar cases
You will need: - 1 Bicycle tire inner tube (punctured or not). Thinner is better - 2 wooden sticks (10 x 1 x 0.5 cm) or something similar - 1 earplug (optional) Tools: - scissors - super glue - duct tape Instructions: 1. Use scissors to cut the bicycle tire in long straps about 7 mm wide. Make 2 str...

Warning! Antec SP 2.0 450W produces high-pitched tone (2)
This is a SECOND followup on an earlier post which can be found at http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=32749 To recap, first I got a broken SP2.0 450, then two in a row which were whining. Sent them all back through my reseller. So, I finally got the fourth PSU. But the thing is: it's n...

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but I was busy and couldn't do it earlier. I took SP-450P out of the case to confirm that sound comes from it, and it indeed does. Audacity shows that the pitch is 10700 Hz but it varies for about 500 Hz. Intensity also varies with time and it is corelated with pit...

Here is an update on situation. While I was waiting for second and third SP2.0, I had two replacement PSUs, one form MS and another from Asus. Neither of them made any distinctive tone. Also, I'm pretty sure that the sound comes from PSU, but I will unscrew it and listen again just to be sure, and p...

Warning! Antec SP 2.0 450W produces high-pitched tone
This is a followup on an earlier post which can be found at http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=32066&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= Anyway, I got a third Antec SP 2.0 450W with PFC, and this one also produces a high pitched tone (I think that's called 'coil whine'). This i...

Same problem here. My Smart Power 2 450W started emmiting that high pitched tone the moment I turned it on. The tone had lower frequency than yours, but was easier to hear. I must say that I am not satisfied with quality of Antec products. I bought Sonata 2 eight months ago (with SP2 450W PSU). The ...

Today I bought a few earplugs just to see what will happen. I placed that Samsung 160JJ on four earplugs on drive sled (as I did it I noticed "nidec motor" text written on HD). This solved the noise problem completely as much as I am concerned. All vibrations and vibration relating noise are gone. T...

My opinion on Sonata II
Two months ago I bought Sonata 2 case, because it was rather cheap and I wanted a silent computer without going into too much trouble. This describes my expiriences with the case. First, the good part. The case is very quiet. It has one 120mm rear fan, which has three settings, low, mid and high. Bo...
