Looks pretty good, if you have steel innards in your case. If you're aluminum, you'll have to get creative.

I cool a Q6600 passively in my main rig. Antec Three Hundred enclosure, HR-01 plus heatsink, mounted crossways so that the long sides of the cooler parallel the ground. Reverse the top fan on the three hundred. Enjoy. Also, the spillover from the top fan does a nice job in and around the cpu area/mo...

I apologize, I didn't seriously mean for anyone to go to the trouble. I was simply bringing the review/product to peoples attention. I've used babelfish before, but I generally find the results tedious to mull through. Thank you for the link though, I'll be looking through it later this evening. I j...

http://drobo.com/news/pr/press_release_2009_04_07.php I wonder. Initial opinions of the 4 disk unit were that it was fairly loud. But later units, and especially v2, with the dual firewire 800 ports, were much easier on the ears. Haven't been able to find anything yet on how intrusive the new pro un...

You didn't mention which board or anything so... If it's a socket 1366 board, it will have to have a triple channel memory setup, even though it may have four dimm sockets instead of six. (in which case, you can use four dimms, but accessing the memory on the last stick would induce a performance pe...

I own one of the mentioned enzotech heatsinks, and currently have it attached to an nforce 4 ultra motherboard. It does just fine, although you'll want to make sure it gets some airflow. Previous to that, I used an aluminum zalman sink that I modified a bit with some diag cutters to make room for my...

Note that it doesn't take tons of airflow to cool a drive. Even my raptors stay perfectly reasonable, with just a very gentle draw across them. That said, with four drives together like that, they'll tend to be warmer, rather than cooler. And, also, any fan solution you employ, will inherently be no...

I've been using the realtek 889 audio on my new gigabyte board since 'first light' on the board. I have to say, I'm not unhappy with it. Did some stress testing tonight for a bit. Absolutely no crashing. Tried the cpu in 400x6 mode to up the memory bandwidth... no problems (completely stable)... retaining the cpu in this mode I think. Out of curiousity, do we have even an unofficial list of recommended 140's? Considering replacing top fans in a pair of Antech 300 cases. To be honest, the tri-cools aren't 'that bad' on low, but... weighing options.

Realtek doesn't have much of a name as a high quality audio solution... or at least it hasn't. Have they been improving their audio quality substantially, or is this board losing points right from go? Actually, I think I prefer a slight amount of noise from my machine, over total silence. The unfortunate realities of coil whine/electronics noise, means that true dead silence, is VERY hard to achieve. A little white noise from the machine, masks this fairly nicely, if you have any components that ...

The heatpipes you deal with on computer equipment will contain distilled water, which is cheap and easy, and environmentally safe, amongst other qualities. The amount is tiny because water converting to steam undergoes a 1-1680 expansion ratio, and if the amount were much greater, no material we hav...
