I went for the zipang 2 because it was one of the only good heat sinks that fit the new lga1156 socket, but I agree a side mounted fan would have worked better. Also it was a bloody pain to fit! Good point about blocking the top fan off, not sure how i will do that. The rest of the system is just 1 ...

thanks, I've done that and temps are still looking good. According to speed fan:

system temp 31c
cpu temp 31c

I've also changed the rear fan to a quieter Scythe and reduced the rpm of the cpu fan.. wonder if i could go passive on the cpu?

antec 300 top fan

Hi,

I have an antec 300 case & Scythe ZIPANG 2 cpu cooler which has a fan on top of the heatsink. Is it ok to uplug the antec top fan? seems like the zipang fan is doing a similar job?

thanks,.

I do print work as well, so have a lot of large documents open in Adobe software at a time. I'm buying for ebuyer (UK)

Would a non-quad be better for this type of work?

the Q9400 is £10 cheaper
the Q8400 is £30 cheaper

so do you reckon the q6600 is not worth the extra?

I'm going to salvage the heatsink for another build. The psu was on offer so i went for it :) probably overkill, but might be good for future systems.

replacing the psu, because the old one is broken. Think i need the graphics card because I have two dvi monitors.

what would you suggest for the processor.. I was tempted by the the i5/i7, but its a lot more money when you add DDR3 + compatible mobo.

passive card, not sure what i need

Hi, I am looking for a new fanless graphics card. I currently have a 6600GT 128MB which I'm happy with, but its AGP and I am doing a new system build... I don`t play games, but I do run two monitors at 1920x1200. So basically what's the cheapest passively cooled card, I can get away with? many thank...

£100 psu

Hi,

I need a new psu, no lower than 500w and as "silent" as possible. My budget is £100. Oh and ideally it would be modular.

Is there anything better than this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150429/sh ... ct_reviews

thanks,

I also have a zeldman 80mm fan which is meant to be around 22db. These changes have made my rig alot quieter and even brought temps down alot. But! its still to...

you are dead right about the placement of the hdd`s, but there is only two spaces to put the case fans, next to each other at the back.

i am pretty sure the Coolermaster CPU fan is the cultprit.

many thanks.
