I did look, back six months or so. It was surprisingly hard. They're not consumer items. I did get a reply to an email from some manufacturer or other saying that their entry model was - around $8000 I think. But they were rather cagey as I have a UK email address and their camera was subject to exp...

A Horror Story
My wife told me to buy my computer from a store. "Too noisy", I said. "You can never get what you want" and "I can do better". That's how the nightmare began. But lest you think this is another "no system will ever be quiet enough for you" story, or even a "how much time is this eating up" rant, let...

Maybe what is ideally needed here is a ridiculously expensive thermal imaging device that uses infra-red or something! Yup! As you can see from this append which includes a thermal picture of a machine in operation, thermal imaging would make an excellent toy tool for the SPCR review team to use. J...

Turbulence noise (yes it could also be called wind noise) is actual a complicated function of airflow (my guess is a thrid or 4th order polynomial). Nothing even remotely so simple, I'm afraid! For those interested (I have a forlorn hope that there might be SOMEONE), there's a rather good short int...

The interesting thing is the pulsation of low frequency drone or hum...which I never expected. I can see additive noise level increasing...two 7200 RPM motors side by side...but the darn noise is rhythmic or cycling...presume it is a 60 cycle buzz but really distracting. No, it's not 60 cycle buzz....

But does the NoVibes really work as effectively when used vertically? The forces placed upon the rubber loops, would appear to be significantly different from when using it horizontally I wondered about that too, and my motherboard STILL hasn't arrived, so I can't fire the system up yet to test it ...

I find I'm dying to hear how the subsequent foam-underlay silencing attempts work out, even though I'm unlikely to buy one of these drives myself. The age-related falloff in the highs starts way higher th...

<nitpick mode='on'> I thoroughly approve of the use of English in this bit: From the acoustic point of view, assuming similar noise levels, one capacious drive to replace two or more smaller drives is preferable. The amount of heat in a system also drops with fewer drives, making the whole system ea...

I'd heard a lot about this while I was in England, and had alwasy thought - bit gimmicky; why bother with this, when you can have a much better wired network? But then I moved to Germany. I'm living in a (lovely) rented house, with concrete and marble everywhere. There ARE wiring ducts, but I'm afra...

P180 Gromets and NoVibes racks
I'm writing this with some trepidation. There's an argument for posting in the newbie forum, because you old-timers here probably know all about this. Still, in the event that other people might benefit from it, this is probably the first place they'd look. I've just discovered what seems to me to b...

I'm in exactly the same situation. I have ordered an ASUS A8N32, a P180, have cancelled the NeoHE 430 order, and went for a S12-500 instead. (The Antec case and Seasonic PSU have arrived, but the motherboard will be another couple of weeks yet :( ). I've just ordered one of these as I'm in Germany. ...

Unfortunately, the cost of the silent operation and the heat pipes is a 2-slot card. Generally ...

Remember that most of the reviewing done on this site happens in North America, and it's probably just as hard for the reviewers to get hold of European products as it is for you (and me) to find US ones here in Europe. So..
In the case of the S12 series, the 500 & 600 are supposed to be higher efficiency models, based on a newer circuit design than the lower power models, which are derived from the older Super Tornado models.
