Re: Which case and AIO liquid cooler for quiet X99 OC build?
I have that exact same question. Right now I'm considering the i7-5820K with Kraken X61 liquid cooler and wondering if it would fit the Define R4 case. I found this: https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/case/?compatible_with=nzxt-cpu-cooler-rlkrx6101 I don't know how complete or reliable this list is, but...

Re: How does the noice compare to after market coolers?
How does the noice compare to after market coolers? I currently use zalman VF900cu that I run at 5v and was wondering if I should expect a significant increase at idle? I already have to crank it up beyond measure during performance so that's not an issue... I just installed the EVGA GTX 260 Core 2...

The Newegg customer reviews seem to indicate a problem with memory modules and this board. If you use the recommended list from Asus it should work fine. I suppose I should head over to Newegg and post my positive comments. I bought an M2NPV-VM and it is working fine. It has 1 GB (2x512) of OCZ PC2...

M2NPV-VM
I just built a system for a friend using an Asus M2NPV-VM motherboard. This is a micro-ATX board for Socket AM2 with nForce 430 chipset and GeForce 6150 integrated graphics. Chipset is passively cooled with a heatsink. Integrated graphics means you don't need a separate video card with its whiney li...

M2N-SLI Deluxe
I have an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Socket AM2 motherboard, revision 1.01G. Chipset is nForce 570 SLI, passively cooled with a heatpipe. It supports AMD Cool n Quiet. The board has 4 chassis fan headers, one power fan header, and of course a CPU fan header. The manual says all but the power fan header "su...

I have motherboard revision 1.01G. The capacitors are marked KZG. According to Google they are manufactured by United Chemi-Con, which is on the "good" list in the wikipedia entry :D. I could only see the KZG marking on a few, but all caps have the same brown and white color scheme so I presume they...

I have an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe. I was hoping to read a review before purchase, but decided to gamble as I've had good luck with three previous Asus boards. It's been up and running for about 10 days now and has been rock solid stable. I haven't done any overclocking or much BIOS tweaking, other than ...

I agree with jackylman. It will be a long while before there are any games that absolutely require DX10. Microsoft is apparently subsidizing some game companies to release DX10 games at Vista launch, but I doubt those games won't also be available for current generation cards. There just won't be en...

I just built my new system which is somewhat similar to what you're considering. Here are my choices: Motherboard: M2N-SLI Deluxe. I didn't want to pay $60-75 extra for the M2N32-SLI Deluxe for Wifi that I'd never use, or the dual x16 that I'd probably never use. If the non Wifi version were availab...

I just built a system in a P180 case with a Samsung 250GB SP2504C. I'm very pleased with the noise level of the hard drive. I don't notice the drive idle noise at all. Seek noise is acceptably quiet for me - while running a defrag, I can't hear the seek noise at 1 meter with the case door shut. I'm ...

If you want a quiet system you really don't want the 7950 with its small fan. It will be a fair bit more powerful though.. Depends on you priorities. I'm pretty sure the 7950 GX2 has TWO small fans. It's got two circuit boards stitched together. Take a look at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product....

I used to have a telephone wihout a dial or buttons. When you picked it up the operator said "number please". That sounds like a mighty fine voice activated dialing solution. Did you have to speak the digits slowly? Could you speak a name and have the system automatically dial the number? (ol...

It doesn't work
I got my P180 from newegg about 3 weeks ago and it has this door with the center magnet and metal power button. I didn't realize it was a "new" door until I saw this post. I've been having the warped door problem on-and-off since the first day, and the magnet isn't always strong enough to counteract...

I think the P180 will help a bit, but it's probably not the holy grail to quietness. Replacing fans and heatsinks would be cheaper than replacing the case, and probably have more impact (except for the visual impact of the P180). Best thing would be to find out which component is the noisiest and re...
