Yes, the system was connected to a UPS. I really have no clue why it's fried. The only suspect is, after I replaced my internal DVD burner with an external (USB) one (SAMSUNG SE-T084) I have experienced couple of system hangs while watching a DVD movie. I'm not sure how a USB device can fry a mobo, ...

Thanks Neil~
I'll try your suggestion. But the PSU fan spins when I turn it on.
xan_user,
The mobo doesn't have a light, but the onboard ethernet connector lights up when I turn the system on. Also all fans (connected to the mobo) spin. But no beep sound at all and nothing's showing up on the screen.

Help! My system won't POST!
Sorry for a noob question. My HTPC suddenly stopped working and I suspect the motherboard (Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H). I disconnected all the peripherals and it didn't even POST. Not even a beep. I removed all the memory modules and powered on, and still no beep. In this case, am I correct to assume ...

since it seems to be able to operate from only the power offered by a single USB port (Though two are recommended? I'm not sure what that implies, exactly.). It's not clear in the review whether the testing was done with only a single USB port connected. Mike C, would you please clarify this? has a...

Good review~ I was looking for a good external slot-loading DVD burner and found this model, but couldn't find a single (reliable) online/offline store that has one in stock (I'm in US). Don't understand why slot-loading is so unpopular. I guess recent netbook boom brought this one back to market. N...

Fan headers on the Gigabyte 780G board?
I just got the Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H board and have couple of questions on the fan headers on it. It has 4-pin headers for CPU fan and SYS fan and a 3-pin one for NB fan. Here's the pin diagram for the 4-pin headers on the manual: CPU fan pin1 GND pin2 +12V/Speed Control pin3 Sense pin4 Speed Con...

Any solution to dust buildup in NSK2400?
I built my HTPC with NSK2400 and I love this case. It has divided chambers and many holes to help cooling the system, but unfortunately that's not particularly helpful when it comes to dust. Dust coming in everywhere and I suspect blocking all the holes with air filter won't be good for the system a...

Q on Nero DriveSpeed
I installed Nero DriveSpeed and it shows only one speed.
My drive is BenQ DW1655.
When launched, Nero DriveSpeed has two buttons which say "Silent" and "Fast", respectively.
When I hit the "Silent" button, nothing's changed and the speed is still "48X".
How can I make this thing work?

I now see more and more products that are RoHS compliant and wonder what impact the products that are not have on their users. I'm not quite familiar with this RoHS stuff. I know what it regulates, but do those hazardous materials have any (long-term or short-term) adverse health effects on a user w...

Also, the Thermalright SP120/90 work quite well in the NSK2400 if the HS mounting scheme allows the fins to run side to side. Yes, you mentioned this in "the other NSK2400 thread" too and I did wonder if you meant passive-mode because SI-120 (I assume SP120 is typo of SI-120. Please correct me if I...

Yeh, I saw that and thus I thought you would try the Spire one and tell us how it performs in NSK2400. Or SI-120 passively... Well, just my thought. Perhaps a CPU fan won't add much noise unless you replace all other stock fans. Anyway, already great review~ Btw, the original AC Freezer is 12cm, not...

Excellent review as always! I'm glad that you've invested 8 pages on this well-designed case. Well worth it! Btw, I wish you could've suggested more options for HSF since the choice seems somewhat limited due to the short height. For example, I wonder if it's possible to passively cool a low-power C...

Will the TDP rating be affected by the actual clock or voltage the CPU is running at? No, TDP is measured at the rated voltage, max P-state (or rated/stock speed), and assume under maximum load so regardless of your clock speed/voltage, the TcaseMax utility should give the same TDP. I'm confused. I...

UPDATE: This IS quiet! Well, laugh at me, but it turned out that I accidentally plugged the fan to the motherboard's NB fan connector. That's why it kept running at its maximum speed. Now I connected it correctly, it spins at 800~900 rpm at idle and IT IS VERY QUIET. (Well, the reviews already said...

Well, I just installed this GlobalWin HSF and jmke, you guessed right! It's definitely loud. Considering good reviews on this fan, I guess this thing currently runs at maximum speed. My CPU temp is 30~35 oC, so I'll try to reduce the fan speed. I haven't figured out how though... Btw, I was very dis...

Thanks for the advice, diver! I agree with you. The air flow is not optimally aligned for XP/SI-120. Only if I were to find good alternatives... The case is too short, no decent vertical HS would fit in. MikeC mentioned Spire's VertiCool II, but reviews from other sites were somewhat disappointing. ...

After all, XP-120 might be a better idea... However, the additional fins at the lower side of XP-120 might hinder air flow by the case fans. Probably I will just buy either heatsink without waiting for SPCR posting its review of NSK2400 and then regret to see later bunch of nice suggestions of the H...

Well, I'm getting Biostar TForce6100-939 in a few days. I'll see how it's gonna be aligned. Btw, considering most 120mm fan height to be 25mm, SI-120 might be too tall (90mm) to place a fan on top of it. Total height will be 115mm and only 5mm left. I doubt 5mm is enough for this HSF to breathe... W...

theyre not even oriented right to take advantage of case ariflow (which is usually front to back, and on a SI-120, case airflow would just shoot over the heatsink. Antec NSK2400 is equipped with 2 "sidemounted" 120mm fans. So, the case airflow is NOT front to back. I would rather go for a Ninja. Pl...

Can SI-120 passively cool this CPU?
This might be a silly question, but... MikeC indicated in another thread that Antec NSK2400 case had "a ton of directed airflow focused at the CPU point -- maybe even more than in the P180." I'm wondering if Thermalright's SI-120 can passively cool my A64 3000+ venice (E6) in this case. According to...
