Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
I dont know about the 2TB hitachi, but my 1TB 1000c runs a little cooler than the 1.5TB Western digital EARS in the current placement in my case

Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
I ended up buying a new condition 7k1000.c 1tb from a guy on the HARDOCP since I couldn't pass up the deal. ;D http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/6813/20february20111328.png This Hitachi is noticeable over my other two drives when running the random HDtune Test when compared to running the Green and...

Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
when it shows up i'll be able to run some test with the 2tb f4eg , the 1tb 7k1000.c, and the 2tb 5k3000. nothing scientific, but i'm excited about it. Looking forward for the test. Please run CrystalDiskMark too. I am really interested in the unsuspended vibrations of the Hitachis. The Samsung has ...

Re: WD Black on bottom of case?
I would do PCB up personally, but I don't have any science to back it up. 1 The reason I would do this is because insulating a PCB is a bad idea 2 Heat rises and you don't want to insulate the electronics, and from what I am aware of, flipping a HDD upside down has no ill consequences since everythi...

Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
Thanks, I really like Hitachi drives, so I was most likely going to dive into the 5K3000 2tb eventually. The samsung doesn't look like a bad choice, I just think that sample variation is a bit concerning, especially after the drive has gotten good performance numbers, I feel like that sample variati...

Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
well, ive got a Samsung F4EG 2TB, and a few 1TB Hitachi 7K1000.C drives... i can give em a listen later tonight if you'd like. (theyre not in my rig atm.) the 5K3000 is on sale at newegg for 79.99 with a promo code though, so its a pretty good deal if youre thinking of jumping on it. $20 off promo ...

Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
I was considering buying either the Samsung F4EG 2TB, or a Hitachi 5K3000 2TB drive and was looking for some noise results on the Hitachi drives.
If anyone has this drive or the 7K3000 series of disks from Hitachi, I'd like some input from y'all.

Few tips: Run all wires you dont use behind the psu where there is a tiny open space. Run the front fanel wires through the top of the HD cage between the bottom and top cages. Snip grill off 80mm front fan grill, stick a nexus in there, and 7v it. http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1029995029&post...

Anyone have experiences with the Liteon SHM-165H6S everything DVD Burner? I just ordered to compliment my Samsung (TSST TS-H552U) which hasent been the best write quality wise. Is it decent? I know it has certain features the mfg says help with noise like SMART-X which slows down drive when only min...

The 2500ks is known to have faulty temp reporting.. but I think the 37c value under no load is accurate since my 7K80 is around that temp. It just depends on these drives on various factors. BTW, is your drive silver topped? I got a silvertopped one (still fairly silent), but was just wondering. Usu...

Ok, well I was reading the Bleeinedge article, and if that 10c offset of the ABIT board is true, then it makes me think.. Since the NF7 uses a in-socket thermistor instead of a diode inside the cpu core, there usually is a 10c offset for that being that the in-socket thermistor reads 10c lower than ...

What is your budget for this build so I could maybe help you a little more. In the end you'll get what you like and have your mind set on, but there are ways to save money if I just know what type of limit there is to spend. Edit: Heres a $950 machine similiar to the one you originally built, but fa...

The 36gb Raptor is very under performing compared to its bigger brothers the 74gb and 150gb. It acts more like a normal 7200rpm disk rather than a 10k, and you only get 30~ gigs of program installs etc. Go for the 74gig or a 7200RPM Samsung or similiar if you want to save money. As for gaming, I wou...

Thanks ultraboy, nice lookin system you got there :D That suspension Idea in the 5.25' bays seems like a good idea. What type of chord should I be looking for at the store? Hi, you could try wedging the HDD on it's side with foam like I've done. pic I think the foam came out of a HDD packaging box, but it doesn't matter as long as it's fairly soft. In my case it's wedged tight enough top to bottom that the HDD stays in place with the PC on it's side. Without enclosure...

Seeking a Replacement for a 350w Antec
I have an Antec SmartBlue 350w w/ 21A on the 12v that has been serving me well through my upgrade to a 9600xt on my old emachiens to a full rehaul and back to this custom pc for years. Besides the fact that it dumps huge amounts of heat into my case (inefficient?) and has 2 quiet but rattly fans, an...
