I think the Coolermaster V12 should also be mentioned.

A well-known problem.

The Intel heatspreaders on their new CPUs (Core2 - E4xxx, E6xxx and Qxxxx) suck big time. They are far away from plain in the most cases. Plus the pretty crappy push-pin mounting system with the lack of pressure.
Some people sanded their IHS to make it plain.

Then you post a link to a draft specifaction, which is just a way to be able to give 300w to graphics cards, it says nothing of if they actually will be. If you want to run a thread about speculation post it as such. Well PCIe first started of giving 75W from the slot itself and 75W from the PCIe p...

Hi,

a guy in a german forum is using an Enermax Liberty 500W to run Quad SLI (2x 7900GX2), 4 HDDs, 2gig ram, 8 case fans and an overclocked AMD 64. A Hyper 750W PSU wasnt able to run this setup stable...
So, a good brand 430W PSU should be enough for the most SLI/Crossfire Systems...

http://www.gindi.de/ebaypics/5V_widerstand.jpg (ignore the image name, it is 12V->7V)
don't know if zalman sells those. Got that one from ebay.
Just put it between the vf700 and the fanmate :)
works great here, but you should try if it starts up with the fanmate on 5V and the resistor.

It should work fine.
I first had a 7700AlCu hanging at it and now it has to handle a sonic tower + one 12cm fan.

Well, i doubt its lightweight :D
Maybe it is not too bad. The fan sucks the air out of the upper fins and blows it out of the lower ones.
Anyhow, it wont beat the average or good tower coolers.

Well, my PC is just 5-6m away from me when i sleep, so i want it as quiet as possible. when all fans run at 5V it is nearly inaudible. At the moment the loudest thing is the 7700AlCu (zalman's fan quality is crappy²...) but it will be replaced by a sonic tower + YL D12SL-12 @ 5V. I will try it on s...

Zalman VF900 at 3V?

Hi, my system is getting pretty silent now, but i think the VF900 @ 5V will be audible since the fan isnt the best one. I'm using fanmate 2 to get it down to 5V and it is connected to the mainboard. I thought it would work like that: mainboard -> fanmate 2 -> 12V-to-7V resistor -> VF900. would this ...

if so: they can s*ck my c**k... The power consumption of the high end Ati cards (100W+) is already out of border. I will not spend another 100+ bucks for an extra power supply that will suck the last money out of my pocket, to play games with even more effects. But lets wait. Nvidia said we would ne...

Seasonic S-12 430 and SLI?

Hi, i'm currently running my system with my 5 years old Enermax 350W Gold. It delivers 17A on the 12V Rail. But since my upgrade system is petty silent, my old PSU is getting on my nerves (2 loud 80mm fans). I read a lot of reviews and nearly every thread in this and other forums about SLI and the r...
