we need more of an adhider instead of adblocker. that way the advertisers think we are seeing the ads because they are still downloaded to our PC just like they are when no adblocker is in place...only the adhider addon would just not display the adds to the user. as far as ars can tell we all saw ...

Plus delete FAHcore_A1 or A2 to get the updated one.cordis wrote:So when you say 'remove the core', what do you mean, like kill the job, wipe out the work dir and the queue.dat file and start it up again? Checking my throughput, it looks like I may have a couple of these bad WUs.

For those whose SMP production dropped horribly...
A few days ago I noticed that my SMP client only hit a checkpoint every couple of hours rather than the 17-20 minutes it used to. That made me look at how much CPU it was using, which turned out only to be one core. This seems to be a known issue with some WUs , that's being worked on. A workaround ...

Shamgar: Maintenance costs I'll buy, but studies have show dish washers to use less water than washing up by hand, if run properly (i.e. only when full). If you heat your hot water with electricity it might be a wash (pun intended) on that point as well.

Regarding the RC, I just downloaded it (it's free for now and I need a windows OS to run one app, now installed in a VM) and it says that after March 1, 2010 it'll start rebooting every 2 hours so that you'll get the full version. So even if it'll technically work until June 1, it'll be very annoyin...

To get back to the original topic, I have a forum I can recommend: Wotmania (although it's being shut down in August or September, with most people migrating over to a new site. The format is quite a bit different than phpBB-style boards, but the community is great. And don't let the name discourage...

Also I am very certain this feature was implemented for server / system admins who would like to deploy their software in a new environment without actually getting new software. That's my theory, because the Pro/Ultimate version certainly doesn't sound like a home user's edition. Yes, it's directe...

Re: 2009 Predictions
Considering that the pro and enterprise versions will include a virtual environment containing XP Pro, I don't quite think so (at least not in the sense of XP not being on many computers any more).derekva wrote:I'll be there will be a mass abandonment of XP within 3-4 months of Windows 7 hitting the shelves.

The US seems to be very concerned right now with Mexico (quite rightly), people have suggested in the past to build a huge wall. Great idea for a massive government project that will include giving many thousands of people jobs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States-Mexico_border Its not going...

Apparently the lastest integrated video, like the NVidia 9100 chips, can run GPU folding. With 16 shaders (whoohoo!) it takes an entire day to complete a single 435 point WU. What's really amazing is the PPW, with integrated video using about the same wattage as a night light. That's roughly 3 time...

I use FahMon , runs on both linux, windows and OS X and works with GPUv2 and SMP as well as the standard client. It can also monitor any number of clients at once, as long as it can read the working dirs (over the network is fine). It can also export a web app and/or text file so that you can see wh...
