Just thought I would post a quick update, for those who got in on this deal and might be looking to upgrade their CPU performance for a reasonable price. I had been using the system with a Core Solo T1300 (1.66) and found two issues: 1. Full-screen Hulu ran at an unacceptable 18-20FPS, resulting in ...

It's probably a combination of the two factors. The Cappuccino's case is designed to act as a heatsink, and I assume that the system is built to take advantage of that (heatpipes contacting the case at multiple points); the AOpen is just a ventilated case. On top of that, an extra 6W of heat output ...

I am not sure how much additional power you would save- obviously, it would take a very long time to recoup the electricity costs, but I am guessing your goal is to see how low you can get the power draw just for the fun of it. Below is a link to an undervolting experiment using the Celeron 220 on t...

You can easily mod a 120x20 fan (there is a low-speed YL that meets this spec, which is silent at 5-7V) into this case by drilling four holes into the mesh top. It is just a bit shorter than your spec, but otherwise should work: http://www.logicsupply.com/products/t_3500_60w I have actually built a ...

You are right- the majority of LV/ULV CPUs were soldered on. However, there are some socketed versions listed on Wikipedia, and there is one seller on Ebay that carries them. His pics confirm that they are socketed, and from some searching, it appears that these may be engineering samples. In any ev...

The reason I asked is that I have actually used these heatsinks in two builds- one a micro-atx, and another in an ITX. The results have been impressive considering their size- and I know others have had success in ITX cases. I just have not seen an actual comparison to modern low-profile heatpipe-ba...

I would be interested to see how a solid copper low-profile server heatsink would fare. Example: Link For low-profile cooling, I wonder if there is much advantage to be gained using heatpipes versus a solid chunk of copper. Obviously, a fan would have to be rigged to the heatsink, which is easily ac...

You could use a Dynatron P12G, which is a solid chunk of copper that only stands at 26.5mm, and rig an 80x25mm fan of your choice- that only comes out to a combined height of <2.1". The Dynatron fits just perfectly, and comes with a backplate and screw-mount kit. I just put together system with this...

73C under gaming load with the small stock heatsink, sans fan, is very impressive. As wumpus stated, you are well under the max temp for that card. I have never used my 6200 PCI for any 3D work, so it is good to hear that it does not get too hot even without active cooling. I personally get worried ...

Do you use the card for any 3D work, or just 2D? If the latter, you can easily run it without the fan plugged in. I have this card sandwiched in-between a sound card and a 7800GT, and it does not exceed 56C w/o active cooling with the rest of my components on full load. If you do use the card for 3D...

I had some pics posted on another forum, but cannot find the thread. I will try to upload some pics from my home PC tonight. The 9500 should do a fine job of keeping the heatpipe cool. In my experience, as long as you have even a tiny amount of airflow going over the VRM heatsink, the chipset should...

I replaced the stock 80x20 Delta with a SilverStone FN-82, which places a 92mm fan on an 80mm frame. The automatic fan controller on my mobo spun the stock fan at ~1200RPM at idle, and the SilverStone ~850RPM. Cooling was unchanged either way (35C idle, 52C load with room temp of 26C and case ambien...

The heatpipe will fit- should drop right in, although there are a few who have had to slightly bend the heatpipe a bit. You will have to remove the VRM heatsink as well as the chipset heatsink; other than that, installation is nothing complicated. The heatpipe should keep your NF4 under 60-65C (as m...
