Thanks for the information.

It looks like you are doing exactly what I am interested in doing. The Gigabyte motherboard that you are using is almost perfect for me. If it supported ECC DDR2 I'd go out and buy one tomorrow.

I'm surprised nobody has a site recommendations or advice... Perhaps if I be a little more specific. Does anyone know if the Nvidia chipsets and more efficient than the AMD chipsets (that support AM2 CPU's)? I think both support ECC ram but I'm not certain. I have read that AMD chipsets are not very...

Low power motherboard/chipset advice

Hi, I have been researching low power motherboards/chipsets for a system upgrade and am finding it difficult to get the information I need. Perhaps someone can provide some advice; or refer me to a website that compiles this kind of info. I am trying to find the lowest power motherboard/chipset that...

pyotr that is an excellent point. The PSU is probably wasting quite a bit of power. I should really look for a new motherboard that has all the components I want onboard. Does anyone know of a, not too power hungry, motherboard that has these features: - 8 x SATA-2 plus either 1 IDE or another 1 SAT...

Hi, I'm trying to drop my wattage at the moment and any suggestions would be very helpful. I was trying to avoid having the outside air coming in through the holes under the rear exhaust and then going straight out through the rear exhaust. I'd rather have the air travel over the PCI and PCIe cards before heading out the rear exhaust.

Hello again. I decided to give blocking off the top fan a try. While I was messing around with the case I noticed the run of holes in the rear of the case next to the expansion card slots (below the rear exhaust fan). I put a piece of paper on it and it seemed that air was being sucked into the case...

Thanks for the replies. toki_c: I am trying to mount the drives because the 3.5" drive cage in the P180 that I want the drives to live in is in the bottom compartment. The drive cage is setup so the hard drives are vertical: the holes are on the top and bottom; not the sides. My only other option is...

Mounting 2.5" drives in Antec P180 case

Hi,
I'd like to move to 2.5" drives in my Antec P180 case but there isn't any mounting holes/cages for 2.5" drives. I sent a message to Antec and they told me they didn't have any accessories to mount 2.5" drives either.

Has anyone done this? Any ideas on how I could do it?

Thanks,
T

Some of the advice seems a little strange to me. In the diagram the CPU fan is pulling air through the CPU heatsink and directing the hot air toward the top of the case. It seem logical to have the top case fan running so that hot air gets out of the case. Wouldn't it be better to block/stop the rea...

Hi,

Thanks for the info on EMR. I hadn't thought about it from that angle.

I'll see if I can construct a suspension cage for holding disks vertically.

Thanks.

Custom system advice

Hi, I've been reading SPCR for a while and I've got a couple ideas that I wouldn't mind some advise on before I jump headlong into building a new case. 1. A case without panels. I know the panels dampen the sound, but they also reduce airflow. If I get rid of the panels and simply have mounting stru...
