Well the card is not new to be honest, and with cooling the corruption is gone. So I will just get a Turbo Module at some point when they are available in the UK and try that. Plus the fact it *didnt* get corruption with the stock cooler suggests no retailer in their right mind will declare it fault...

Just did a test with it in the 90s and I was getting corruption city in 3DMark, with a panaflo fan (noisy) held on to blow on the card and VRMs no corruption (but noisy argh!).

I need to try and get hold of the turbo module I think.

Hmmmm..

X1900XT - Accelero S1 and VRM problem

Hi, Recently installed an Accelero S1 on my X1900XT and the VRM temps is through the roof, the GPU and ambient temps are much better than the old setup but the VRM is dangerously high, infact so high I dare not run 3D apps at all at the moment. It idles at 69c which is much, much higher than it used...

Thanks for the pics, looks very low profile with the fans which is good. I have my accelero but its not installed yet. I still need the Turbo Module though.

Nice, I finally ordered an Accelero S1 but still cannot get hold of the Turbo Module. If all goes well with my X1900XT I will maybe post some pics if I can be bothered! :) Incidently, how did you wire up the Nexus at 7v? Is it safe for the PSU? I might have to go down this route if I cannot get hold...

I am in the UK on 240v. Where you got your HX520 from? What store I mean. No you didnt read what I wrote. I tried the PSU with nothing plugged into my motherboard except the CPU and RAM... Ok, fair enough I guess. Care to give any details about your config? I might have missed that too. Thanks for ...

Also, a lot of these units are sold in the US. I twice mentioned a possible different behaviour of the HX520 when on UK 220V or US 110V and gave a possible explanation - any feedback on that from Corsair? Just out of curiosity, Stormy , are you on 110V? Do you mean you have short-circuit the two pi...

None of which really contradicts my thesis that the vast bulk of HX520 buyers have systems which are quiet in their own ears but which drown out any noise from the PSU. "I can't hear it over the stock cooler on my 8800GTX" and that sort of stuff. Well I tried the theory on mine, unplugged the all t...

Mines in! :) Its superb, very very quiet. There is a very slight 'buzz' if I put my ear right to the PSU and you can hear it about 10cm away, anymore than that and all I can hear are the 2 Antec P180 fans (and my rattling IceQ3 which needs sorting out). If I stop the fans and stop the IceQ fan I sti...

Hi Kev,

In Step 1) do you mean clean the memory chips themselves? I assume if you clean the ram sinks they wont stick to anything! :)

Also the X1900XT does it need some kind of VRM sink or will the Accelero S1 and ram chips, probably with the 'turbo mobule' be enough?

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for that Kevin, informative and useful for me as I have a P5K motherboard but an X1900XT which I am going to try and install the Accelero S1 and 'Turbo Module' on if I can ever find stock at a decent price in the UK that is. Which P5K motherboard do you have? Mine is a P5K Deluxe/WIFI-AP and ...

I'd add 5 mm or so, as the S1 sits back from the 'front' or output side of the card a bit. Just a heads up in case space is that tight. If you like the card and want to keep it, might as well go for the cooling solution you like. If you think you're gonna want to change it soon, save your money for...

Replacement for X1900XT?

Hi, Looking on here and generally it looks like I might be pissing in the wind trying to get my X1900XT quiet and cool. Thanks for the replies, I dont think the S1 'Turbo Kit' is particularly noisy, so I would hope that would work. I think the Acceloro is about 10mm longer than the card, 215mm for the HS and the HIS IceQ X1900XT is 205. The Arctic Cooling site says its for the X1900XT so dunno if I should give it a g...

I don't know if it would cool an X1900XT (isn't that an even hotter running card than the X1950Pro?). It comes with 8 little aluminium RAM heatsinks, although only 7 can be used as the heatpipes goes over one of the RAM pieces. Ahh ok, I am not sure if the X1900XT is hotter or not, thats why I was ...

Hi,

That looks pretty smart alf. I am looking to try and passively cool my X1900XT and was looking at the Accelero S1 but I was not even aware of this Cooler Master Z1. I will check it out.

Let us know how the temps settle down.

Cheers,

Also, as Mike pointed out, my PSU is in a P182 with a mid-case fan which is the optimal cooling environment for any PSU. So the Nexus' fan is probably running at the bare minimum if it is temperature controlled. Hence it appears to perform nice and quiet for me! Ok thanks, I would be putting the PS...

Sorry Mike, but Confuciius was quoting the Nexus is "quieter" than the Corsair HX so that goes completely against your review. I was trying to get to the bottom of it thats all.

Re: My results from using a NX-8050

Ultimately the Nexus was "somewhat" quieter than the Corsair unit. I also liked the fact that Nexus claims that of the three 80X0 PSUs, the 8050 is the quietest and doesn't start ramping up the fan until about 300w. My system idles at around 215w and has peaked at 308w from the wall. Is it better t...

Is the M12 500 pretty much comparable to the Corsair for Fan noise? Its good if the 60mm fan is not needed on the 500 version and never switches on then. Can anyone else confirm that? I can see from the french review that it makes sense but you would expect Seasonic to not fit the fan in this case. ...
