Re: Silent 80x20mm?

Any possibility of modding to make use of a 25mm thick fan? From what I have seen this enclosure has a rear mounted fan. If you were to place the replacement fan on the outside of the case instead of the inside this would allow a 25mm fan to be used. Better still, you could dismantle the thing enti...

[Quiet] 80x20mm?

Can anyone recommend a source for a decent 80x80x20 fan? I've got one of those Mediasonic Probox drive enclosures and the fan is the worst. I don't mind spending a bit of coin for a good fan, but I cannot find 20mm deep fans for the life of me! It's like they have been wiped off the face of the inte...

I definitely recommend silencing your graphics card. It made more of a difference in my system than doing the northbridge chipset and the power supply. I used a Zalman heatpipe/fan and it worked astoundingly well. It was a little tricky to fit everything into the case but well worth the effort.

Socket 7 (really old) - fanless?

I've got a really old system (probably around 5 years old) that I'm using as a Unix-based router/firewall/server. It's jet-engine loud, which is ridiculous as it's sitting next to my brand new AMD64 system which is dead silent. Can a Socket 7 CPU (AMD K6 400) run without a fan? If not, what's a good...

Re: New Mac Pro taken apart

"Silent" is a word taken very seriously around here. Best not to utter it in vain :) Judging from the photos of those fans, it would be hard to believe the Mac pro is silent. Let's hope it's at least quiet. I'm new around here, so you don't have to trust me, but my housemate just brought home a new...

The Mac Pro is too expensive, I just don't need that kind of hardware for the office/multimedia/internet tasks I'd use it for. With those high end CPUs and hard mounted drives, I imagine it'd also be noisier than I'd like. My housemate works for Apple and just brought home a top of the line Mac Pro...
