Re: Quietest GTX 1060?
Side note: something can be very quiet - but silence is absolute. Saying it is "very silent" is like saying something very medium, or extremely normal. I apologize by the use of incorrect terms. The Asus Strix 1060 is silent up to 63 deg (fans deactivated). C. After that, the fans will run. QJA

Re: Antec Solo / Asus Strix 1070 / i7 6700K
Initially, I just made the mod cut to fit the Asus Strix 1070 and use two Nexus 92mm input fans. In such configuration, the temperatures start to build up very fast. After analyze the Antec Solo II review and the gamming machines articles on this site/forum that I implemented this final mod. The air...

Antec Solo / Asus Strix 1070 / i7 6700K
After a long time, I decided that it was the proper time to an upgrade in my system. After analyze a lot this site, we define the new components. Initially, I was planning to upgrade to a Fractal Design R5 case, however I could not find here in Brazil. So, we decide to apply some mods in our current...

Re: A10-5800K vs. Phenom X4 965 for non-gaming use?
I had the same question some weeks ago and we decided to go to the Phenom X4 965. Our requirements were very similar to yours. This upgrade improved the system capability to the level we were expecting in a very cost effective way. For precaution, we changed the cooler from a Zalman 9500/Nexus 92mm ...

What is the grey/silver-coloured tapeg you've put around the hole? Why did you do that? It looks like aluminium foil. It is an aluminium foil tape. We did that just for finishing purposes. To avoid any hurt during computer handling. Other users of this forum used rubber finishing. See the following...

Did the cutting out of the grilles help alot? We cut the grilles before install the components in the case. However, we did this modification in a previous implementation and we verified the benefits of an increase in the airflow and a small reduction in the "woosh" sound. Particularly, we will mak...

Configuration update
HI, We implemented some final changes in our configuration in order to reduce the noise and illuminated mouse (MS Habu)/keyboard (MS Reclusa). We also changed the location of the ZM-MFC2 in order to open space for an additional component in the future. We are using a single slot for the PWR supply d...

Re: P180b Silent Gaming Rig
First of all, nice rig. Are you enjoying the Noctua fans and CPU cooler? Can you provide your impressions about the three different fans that you are using (Nexus, Noctua and Scythe)? Should I block the space around the fans? If so, how can I do this without transferring the vibrations to the case? ...

I have quite a similar set up! The Solo really is a good case to make a quiet computer with. The only problem I have with mine is that the rear of the case is backed up against a wall (~6" or so), and the wall reflects the sound of the computer back towards me. It's amazing how this can amplify the...

Solo/PSU Duct/ZM-MFC2/8600GTS (Updated)
Finally the Zalman ZM_MFC2 arrived and we could finalize our configuration. We decided to perform other modifications also: a) Replace the Nexus 92mm on the 9500 cooler by a Zalman PWM fan; b) Remove the top front Nexus 92mm fan and install a Nexus 120mm at the end of the HD cage to increase the air...

laguz1, We would like to suggest another option in your list for evaluation. The Avermedia AverTV Combo PCIe. It has dual tuners (one standard, one HDTV), PCIe x1, low profile and works very well with the Windows Media Center. We use one of those with an 8600GTS and the image quality is very good. T...

If you use a single HD or can mount a second HD on the back of P150 you may try an arrangement with one 92mm for the HD and one 120mm fan for the videocard. Using this approach the temperatures of our 8600GTS Silenpipe 3 reduced in 4-5 C deg (compared to 2 x 92mm fans arrangement) without affecting ...

It's a tight fit, right? I'm wondering if fans from such a case can keep the card cool and I wanted to make sure that ...
