I was saying that Thermalright told me that the fan should have a minimum of 25mm clearance above it

The 7700 is definitely lower profile than the XP-120.. The XP-120 dimensions on the product page don't include the fan.

I have this same problem too, but I think it's because I have the fan in an inverted motherbaord in a Lian-Li case. When I turn the whole case upside down, the noise goes away.

Is it a bearing issue too or is it because of the way it's mounted? Will every fan have this same problem in my case?

Does anyone have their 8800 in an inverted case design. As in the fan ends up on the top side of the card? I wanted an 8800 but I just bought an HIS X1950 because of the silent cooling, but when its mounted upside down, there is quite an annoying fan noise, like the fan is constantly catching or gri...

I can't figure out how to attach a new side fan. I am trying to replace the stock fan with a Noctua. The stock side fan is threaded, therefore the thumb screws won't fit the Noctua. Is there a way to thread the fan myself? Alternately, the regular screws just don't fit through the opening without da...

To address concerns about pressure... Given fans of 25mm depth spinning at typically <1500rpm, the pressure is always very low, and differences between models is trivial. To wit -- we have interchanged Nexus, Scythe, and Globe 120x25mm fans running inaudibly on Ninja HS with no significant differen...

Thanks for the reply. I actually posted the wrong link in that message. I meant to post a link to the case, not the review. Here it is: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=703539&page=65&pp=20 As you can see, the PSU is right above where the CPU heatsink and fan would be so there's nothing I c...

Does anyone know how much clearance is required above the fan on this XP-120? I'd like to put it in a PC-V600 like this one http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=703539&page=65&pp=20 but there would only be 8mm or so of clearance from the top of the fan to the PSU. I know the fan on this can go ...
