The SE16 250GB? i have the WD2500KS, and mine was very quiet, with hardly any vibration. Cannot hear it in the lower chamber of my P180B.

How's your harddrive temp? I have the same one, and while being quiet it also runs a little bit warm :(

Yours too?

has anyone found where to get your hands on the noctuas in the USA? i briefly looked at eBay, but there only seemed to be one store based in the UK selling them for something like $30 plus shipping from europe. :( There are several US retailers now. Check the Noctua page. I ordered two 800s from ht...

Might as well get it in January, its not likely that prices are going to go up, and that way it had a chance of a price drop.

2) The newer seagate hdds (anything made in the past year) are hot and noisy. You have to go back to the 7200.7 series to get anything close to quiet. Get a Samsung spinpoint or Western Digital SE16 Caviar drive. Both will be quieter and cooler than the Seagate. I definitely agree with this. In my ...

hey, thanks guys. I was thinking of ducting the case in such a way that the graphics card is isolated from the cpu airflow, actually a lot like chris thomson did in his core 2 duo build. I am thinking that as long as i can get some decent airflow (yateloon at 5/7v) i can keep relatively low temps on...

ah, looks good. they have both models, also they are both in stock.

19.50 CAD isn't that bad, especially considering they give you gromets and different cables for lower voltage.

Hey, Howard and others. Didn't want to start a new thread, so i'm reviving this to get another opinion on another motherboard. I was thinking that perhaps the gigabyte 965p ds3 would be a better way to go for these reasons: It is cheaper, and therefore works with my budget and would allow me to allo...

I, too, want a fan controller. I am wondering though if this is the best option, i do sleep in the same room as my computer and i do keep it on all the time. I realize a fan controller would be optimal for immediate control, but the question i have is if i were to leave my computer on overnight with...

how does the ninja fit with the pushpins? does it feel secure, secure enough to take to a lan or on the road without major precautions? i read on some other forums that the pushpins are insecure, but i wanted to know your opinion since i saw your pictures.

i added the p5b deluxe in the thinking i wouldn't really need 2GB's of ram (as only having 1gb would save me about $100)

i'm not really in need of 2gb's of ram. that said i could probably go for 2X512 and perhaps up the motherboard to the P5B-Deluxe? I really like the hard drive and video card, thanks for those suggestions howard. So at this point i'm looking at something like this: p5b-deluxe allendale e6400 1.8v ddr...

Critique my build

I'm relatively new to the silent computing world, and this is my first post at SPCR. :) I recently sold my loud and obnoxious computer, in the hopes of buying a new one that wouldn't be so annoying. So, my budget is ~900, up to about 950. I think that core 2 duo is the way i want to go, and since i ...
