undervolted high and low end meroms = same power usage?
Hi folks! I would like to ask a very brief question. I have a merom T7200 on my thinkpad T60p right now. It's been rock stable using RMClock @ 0.95v. My question is, if I get a T7600, and i manage to undervolt it to 0.95v too, will it generate the same heat and consume the same power as the 7200 at ...

I'm just trying to understand where mobos stand power-consumption-wise and how they compare to each other. I'm not going to buy a 9300/9400 since, as you've understood, I have no use for them now, as the G210 is superior in video-acceleration. But since we were talking about mobos, I was curious to ...

Thanks for your input! So is the G31 more power efficient than G41? If so, that would suit me as there are some cheap G31 mobos around. IMHO my mobo sucks big time, it doesn't even support dual channel memory. The integrated 7100 graphics can't properly accelerate and deinterlace even SD mpeg 2 cont...

s775 chipset with lowest consumption?
Hi all My mobo is in the process of dying (an MSI with nvidia 7100 chipset). I need to get a new µatx to replace it. I'm looking for the lowest consumption motherboard to go with my E4400. I don't need it to have nice graphics because I'll be using a geforce G210 for H.264 acceleration. Which chips...

xbox 360 psu + PW200M won't power up...
Hi folks... I've finnally managed to assemble all of the pieces to try this experiment. I'm trying to power a E2200 + 2GB ram on a MSI P6N-GM mobo, with a PW200-M and an xbox 360 psu. I'm sure I've done all the right cabling, I've got the cpu connector on, I'm not powering either the hard drive or t...

Well, some people still do prefer CRT screens, although I don’t belong to that camp. I have used a few good CRTs in the past though (before going LCD) the one I was most satisfied with was a ViewsonicP227F screen, and that one was actually pretty nice, picture quality wise anyway. Of course some ...

the pitch of smaller lcds like 22" WUXGA and 24 WUXGA is pretty acceptable... what's the problem with that? There's only one such 22". The Lenovo. Samsung might release one. 1920x1200 24" monitors have a pixel pitch whose dot pitch analogue I stopped using in 1995. No joke. actually, if I recall th...

I still maintain my opinion that LCDs are a failed technology that's being overmarketed. The only panels really worth using are S-IPS, and those are way too expensive. S-IPS are unfortunatly, ususally not fast enough. *VA panels offer a good compromise IMHO. I have a S-IPS on my laptop (thinkpad T6...

There are a number of areas you can't always directly compare LCDs to CRTs. Sure, there are LCDs with much larger diagonals, but for the vast amount of LCDs in the market, the resolutions (and pixel pitches) are still stuck in the early 90s compared to the old high-end CRTs. there you go again - co...

The Lenovo can consume upwards to 100 W though (at 100% brightness, but I use it at 0% because LCDs are just too bright), so it is rather hungry. But hey, it's common for 24"+ monitors to draw more power than any old CRT. Plus, the last CRT monitors that were made only drew about 65-75 W and many L...

My Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM uses about the same amount of electricity as the 19" monitor it replaced, Was it a 19" CRT it replaced? how much exactly is that? See if you can turn down the brightness on your LCD, you can save some electricity while improving the viewing experience, IMO. Who, me? 27W...

Hi, just to throw my 2cents in :) I currently have a 19" samsung syncmaster 193P, and I can tell you that it only uses 27W maximum. Pretty amazing for a display I should say. The Lenovo L220x is a dream display for me, but it's out of stock till later on March or April. It's one of the only displays...

No problem! I don't even have the original PSU  I swapped the case cheaply for some hardware. Either I'll keep my Antec's SmartPower (certainly not an 80+ scorer but apparently it's not that bad either averaging around 70~75%) or I'll get a nice Seasonic or some other 80+ psu or - in a perfect ...

Is it? What do you mean like? Because of hard drive vibrations? I do realise it is not very thick, and not very insulated, and has a lot of plastic. But i thought with the right PSU and eventually a suspended hitachi 7K100 it'd do the trick ;) I'll try to mount my Thermalright SI 128 too, with a cou...

looking for a nice core 2 duo microatx motherboard
Hi folks, I'd like to have your advice on this if possible. I'm looking at up/downgrading (depends on how you look at it :D) my current system, a E6600 + asus P5B-deluxe on a Sonata II. I'll keep my E6600 as it was really expensive a year ago, and though the processor is usually idle I think it woul...

If it's a real plug, not an adapter, they also deliver 3.3 V. Anyway, they only deliver these voltages if there is a contact on the drive's port to pick the voltage up. Notebook drives do not have contacts where the 12 V plates of the PSU plug are, only 5 V. Yes, you're absolutely right, it does ha...

Say fellas, this is something i'd thought of (putting a switch on the 12v and the 5v of my 2nd sata hard disk) and i'd never imagine there would be any risks to it. Anyway, i'd like to try the software option and have windows put my drive to standby, and see what it does. But apparently, under XPs p...
