I am upgrading my processor to a X2 6000+ and I need a AM2 cooler that will blow air to the rear case fan and not at the power supply.
Any suggestions?

Something about motherboard fan control, it's highly specific to individual motherboard. I've used 8 AM2 boards, and they all came with different range & power on fan controlling. Some were able to fine-tune range of fan RPM, but some were just equipped with enable & disable function, and nothing e...

You might want to try one of those new Scythe fans, the Noctua's aren't exactly known to flow a lot of air.

I just built a rig for college with a X2 4000+, and the cooler is amazingly quiet. With both cores fully loaded with two instances of CPUburn, the proc stabilizes at 42C with the fan at around 2000 rpm. At that speed, there is a bit of motor noise, but its drowned out by the rest of my system (HX420...

There is one benefit of going the 8600 route... it can decode HD DVDs in hardware, while the 8800 does not. Just something to consider if that matters to you. Seems to me all the cards out now have a shortcoming: - 8500/8600 not fast enough for games, and doesn't accelerate VC-1 video. - 8800 doesn...

Just installed the system in it's corner: Hum-m-m-m :-( The place it's in seems to resonate with some noise source from the case. Unplugged the harddisk, hum gone. So much for the vibration dampers on the NSK3400, and maybe even the noiselessness of the Samsung SpinPoint T166 HD501LJ.. Samsungs see...

Just started folding with a 930mhz Pentium 3 running ubuntu. Any bit helps I suppose. What performance are you seeing? How long does it take to complete a step (%) I put an old pIII laptop to work under XP and it takes about 1.5 hour for one step... It takes around 2 hours to complete a step....
