@fumino yeah there is a lot of air moving through this thing, but because of its absurd size i feel that much of the air is just sucked past the main components out the top. Gotta think about some way to duct this mofo ;D I got an accelero v2 heading here by mail, its first revision served well on m...

@lodestar Thx for the input buddy :) The only problem i see with the hard drive cage is that the way it is mounted in the optical slots area is that there would be a lack of airflow over them. Considering how often my hdd's die on me I'm pretty skeptical whether it is a solution for a pc that is on ...

Needing some help to quiet down a Cooler Master ATCS 840

Hello fellow silencing addicts :) I got lucky today and found a Cooler Master ATCS 840 for a mere 650 SEK, which is around 64 euros. Since I had eyed the bugger previously and happened to be in the market for a case to replace my beat up P180B I figured what the hell and went for it. In terms of the...

Thx for the input Mike! I have removed the plastic filter covering doors since they seemed rather pointless to me due to the fact that i usually leave the door closed anyways. Still this mod you are referring to: Is it to remove as much of the fan grill as possible you are referring to or to cut out...

Thanks for the replies dudes! The AM3 platform does seem to have some advantages, also the 6 core processor might be good to have in the future, especially since AMD's processors scale very well in multithreaded applications. Still the dual core choice is to me rather inappropriate since I multitask...

Retiring 4yr old silent gamin rig for high power new one

Hello fellow silencing maniacs! I am in need of some advise concerning my upcoming gaming rig renewal plan that is being accelerated by my motherboard acting weirder and weirder every day and I just do not feel it is worth to replace a S775 board with another S775 board when beauties with 1153, 1366...

just confirming that V2400W is silent near perfect monitor except for TN-film viewing angles Thx for the confirmation :) How is the pivotability on it? My screen acts secondarily as a means to watch streamed tv shows and the occasional movie from my bed and my guess is the viewing angles from below...

Looking for a quiet, affordable 24-26 inch monitor

Hello fellow silencing absessed ones :) Im looking to upgrade my pc this summer with a HD4870/90 or a GTX275 and gettin a large monitor for the sake of utilizing the extra power fully (my 19inch crt just aint worth such a strong card). I tried to find reviews for it but couldn't so it seems that it is not out yet or noone has finished reviewing their sample yet. It seems like you can order it from arctic cooling themselves since they posted the price on the product page: http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath...

The arcitc cooling cooler looks promising, its sheer size is impressive indeed XD I think the plastic shroud and the fans can be removed and with some tinkering you can stick one or perhaps even two larger silent fans on it for silent yet cool operation. Here's an article (in german though) that sho...

@Kate : I'm sorry too many years with a ninja in my case has made the principle of just swapping the fans position on the heatsink kind of too obvious to me I guess ^^ What I mean is to have the heatsink and fan facing up instead of facing the back of the case. So that the air is blown towards the t...

Best cpu cooler for vertical airflow?

Hello fellow silencing nerds :) Im building a quiet system for my fathers home recording studio in the summer and I had a question I could not quite answer myself. I intend to use a P182/P180 case and whichever motherboard is the top low noise performer for Core i7's when the time comes, thus i need...

Looking for a quiet, preferably fanless 3/4 screen card

Hi there, This summer my father has asked me to build a quiet rig for him that packs quite a punch for his audio encoding needs in his little amateur music studio. While cpu, motherboard, case etc. I am quite confident that my 6 silent systems I have build have given me enough experience to choose c...

Corsair hx620w in p180?

Hi, Im considering getting an antec p180 after my financial situation looks a bit better (curse christmas shopping!!!!) and want to get myself a nice quiet psu with a lot of power seing as the graphics cards of today seem to follow a ridicolous upward trend in power consumption. perhaps i am being c...
