do either of these allow the heat sink to be removed without removing the motherboard?
it appears that they both can be removed without removing the motherboard.

am2 coolers that will orient towards rear exhaust

can someone tell me which am2 vertical heat sinks will mount so that the air flow across the fins will be able to be directed toward the rear of the case? one that i'm aware of is the Scythe Ninja. are there others? i thought i read about a heat sink that wasn't symmetrical (like the Scythe Ninja) b...

that's a thought but i'd sooner perform a clean install--given the random results i've seen from attempting repair installs.

i have an xp system that reboots when i issue the shutdown command. this problem was not occurring prior to uninstalling symantec antivirus. at this point i just need the quickest solution to prevent windows from rebooting. i.e., is there a registry setting that will completely disable windows abili...

best approach to fix a failed partition shrink

i have a laptop that has a 40 GB hard drive with approximately 38 GBs allocated to a primary NTFS partition. the NTFS partition has approximately 9.5 GBs of actual data. i attempted to shrink the partition to 10 GBs using partition magic 8 but the process failed with this error message: #50 read fau...

"Green" marketing is overall a boon to the environmental movement i guess i mostly agree with that, although i have my reservations. when an idea is marketed and "packaged", often the essense of what the idea was before it was packaged is lost. ideas can be marketed-to-death. buzzwords can lose all...

thermalright si-128 or xp-120 vs si-97

has anyone done a head-to-head comparison of one of thermalright's 120mm heat sinks and their si-97 heat sink?

if you have personal experience with these products, assuming quiet 120mm and 90mm fans respectively, what's the ballpark temperature diff?

now they [pcpc] use Seasonic for the silencers. how was this determined? i assume PCPC doesn't state it any of their sales brochures? i'd still love to be pointed to some confirmation of this information. especially since it seems to be held as common knowledge here and since i have yet been able t...

Spec is correct. However, it isn't a horizontal obstruction. The two support bars run from front to back, and the SI97 probably sits somewhere close to the middle of those two. The space / clearance between the two support bars is 84mm the last time I measured. So, you can just pop a 80mm fan into ...

I use an si-97 (L116 x W96 x H75)mm , which fits.. but the 80mm panaflo on top is slightly modified. how is your panaflo mod'd? i found this spec: "Maximum CPU Cooler Height: 3in or 76mm" here: http://www.sffclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=97&Itemid=99999999&limit=1&limitstart=7 ...

MicroFly Micro ATX case - cpu heat sink clearance

this is directed to anyone who's used the MicroFly Micro ATX case. approximately how much clearance exists above the cpu in a MicroFly? i'm thinking of using this case for an ASUS M2NPV-VM with a Thermalright SI-97A heat sink. the height on the SI-97A is 75mm (without a fan). will it fit? if this he...

Re: Radical rethink on green computing

don't buy it, unless you really need it. this is absolutely the *most* important idea in the original post. only very very rarely do i observe any green "talk" coupled with an appreciation for reducing consumption. and any green "talk" that doesn't tells me that the entity "talking" doesn't really ...
