Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
Reporting back in with my general impressions on the 5K3000 2TB drive vs. its predecessor (Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB): Vibration : Samsung, 2/10 ... Hitachi, 3/10 Temperature : Similar, but the Hitachi tends to run 2-3 C warmer. Throughput : Pretty solid advantage to the Hitachi, 20-30MB/s faster in s...

Re: Hitachi 5K3000 2TB experiences
My 5K3000 is set to arrive later this afternoon - will report back once I receive it. I'll be comparing noise output and vibration to a Samsung EcoGreen 1TB.

They all sound exactly the same - "whirring" noise from the bearings. I too was rather disappointed ... oh well. I guess it's Petra's from now on? I am by no means bashing Jab-Tech themselves here - they're a stellar etailer and I'm a big fan, it's just that I'm not too pleased with this batch of Ya...

Word to the wise - do NOT buy Yate Loon fans from Jabtech.
Just warning you guys - I ordered five of the famous D12SL-12 fans from them and have been extremely disappointed with their noise output. There is a "whirring" noise that accompanies the expected "airflow" whoosh at 5v, 7v, and 12v. FWIW these are marked "809." The Yates I've ordered in years past ...

Rubber fan mounts (set of 4) - $1.00 each + $1.50 shipping

As opposed to most generic rubber fan mounts, these look pretty soft.
Better yet, they work with closed corner fans.

Yeah, I was confused with the terminology (Kama Flex vs. Flow), but the model #s seem to match.Tephras wrote:FWIW, the 1000rpm SA1225FDB12L was included in Fan Round-Up #2.
Anyone else?

Has anyone tested Scythe's 120mm KAMA FLEX fans?
Found one recently on Jab-tech: http://www.jab-tech.com/Scythe-KAMA-FLEX-120-mm-Silent-Case-Fan-1500-rpm-SA1225FDB12M-pr-4370.html Was tempted by the price and availability. Supposedly these share the same fluid dynamic bearings that make the SFlex fans so great ... but how do they perform (on heats...

I own the same motherboard. Only one of the 3pin headers gives you RPM control. If memory serves I believe it's the one at the top left-most corner ... directions: Run Speedfan. Go to Configure, Advanced tab, Winbond W83627DHG, set PWM 4 type to DC output. Then go back to the original Speedfan windo...

It turns out that my 120mm Lian-Li fan also vibrates its fan guard on occasion. I can't be 100% sure if it's the guard or the back of the case. The case is Lian-Li PC-A7110b (which is aluminum). The fan is mounted with the usual metal screws. You need to softmount every fan in a Lian-Li aluminum ca...

Xigmatek XSF-F9251 or Scythe Kama PWM 92mm fan?
Hey guys, I'm looking to get a pair of 92mm fans to replace the awful included pair that's installed, stock, in my Xigmatek BattleAxe GPU cooler. I can get the Xigmatek XSF-F9251 or Scythe Kama PWM DFS922512M-PWM 92mm fans for relatively cheap locally (Microcenter) or online (SVC.com). If no one has...

Hi, It greatly improves the contact between the base of the HS and the CPU. It matters a great deal. It is also much easier to install. Regarding the ease, it requires quite a bit of pressure to screw the bolts in. I've actually found the clip method to be easier. Didn't need a screwdriver. Pressur...
