Being the frugal person I am just trying to put together a setup which is almost quiet, and cool enough to avoid spending another hundred euros on it ;) No matter what, I'll be probably end buying the Ninja (cheap!) or the Ultra 120 (ultraexpensive...). Can't get the infinity for the orientation wou...

click on enable change voltage, then lower the VID one step at a time. When you manage to get a drop of about 0.1V, try SP2004. Remember you have to change the VID every time you boot your computer (the setting is not retained) on another note...why in SpeedFan, CPU-Z and in my BIOS, it shows a Vcor...

Loggable ambient temp sensor
Don't know where to put this question really.
Does anyboy know of a loggable ambient temperature sensor which can be connected to the computer ?

Just a little update: for some reason my previous case cooling setup was not good for the Freezer. I removed the seal from the left side and that produced a 4-5 °C drop in core temperature. So I moved my HDD module up, and made a little styrene duct to connect the 120mm CM fan to the Freezer. I'm c...

I would drop the Ultra 120 which is the most expensive option and has no big edge over the Ninja. The Noctua costs a little more (or equal) than the Ninja + Kit but the mounting system looks better than both the old and the new Ninja fittings. It has been subject to uneven reviews, but you don't car...

I had a similar idea about the Freezer... actually I was thinking of moving down the fins because the lower ones (supposed to cool the VRM) have wider spacing. However I couldn't keep myself from wondering wether the cooling efficiency could be impaired by moving the fins around: the tightness of th...

If you can help me put my finger on what went wrong, I'd be happy to listen. However, unless you can explain it, all I can do is report what I measure, and write off unexpected variation as random variation. Frankly, I find it unlikely (to say the least) that someone, sitting in front of a screen o...

The CPU sensor (on motherboard) pretty much reads the same, and the DTS is inside the processor itself. With the AVC installed, the core is completely hidden by the large copper base (77x45 mm), so I can hardly imagine higher airflow in such a situation. It would be more likely to happen with the Fr...

your calculation doesn't consider the fact that heat transfer happens from both sides of each fin...so, double your calculated area. So why not brag about "over 6000 cm^2" ? The Noctua fins aren't that much less than a simple rectangle, look at this shot: http://img454.imageshack.us/img454/5574/noc...

My conclusion the CPUa is corrent, and the COREa temp is way off. Then it must be my Opteron, it likes no swiss-designed fans :D But seriously, the DTS is regarded by most as more accurate than the the motherboard sensor. If the DTS reports a higher temperature for a HSF and a lower one for the oth...

Also worth noting: 38 aluminium cooling fins for optimal heat dissipation Thanks to a surface area of more than 5000cm² The specs of the heatsink are: Height (without fan) 155 mm Width (without fan) 126 mm Depth (without fan) 70 mm Assuming the fins were simple rectangles, the total surface would b...

AC Freezer 64 Pro: Overrated?
Hello, I'm going to post some informal tests I've done on my own system, to compare the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and the AVC 4-heatpipe top-down cooler. The latter came with my PIB (Processor In a Box) Test Setup CPU : Dual Core Opteron 165 - 2700 MHz - 1.30V VCore Mainboard : MSI K8N SLI Plati...

Re: Core temps
I don't know if i am posting this in the correct area, but can you have too low of a cpu temperature? According to Speedfan, my CPU is 18c. The CPU is a AM2 3800+ X2 (65w). I wouldn't trust that reading, I believe there's some problem with DTS reading on K8 processors. At idle, CoreTemp reports a d...

Best way to bypass thermistor?
Hello, I have a Nidec Beta-V TA275DC 70mm thermistor-controlled fan, which is used on the AVC Z7U7414001 HSF I want to put on my Opteron. My MSI K8N SLI Platinum mainboard can control the speed of the CPU fan, and I'd like to have full control over the fan speed. However, the thermistor is very smal...

I have the same CPU (but running at 2.7 GHz) and maybe the same HSFs, but my experience, as you'll see if you go on reading, is different. I do not have a silent or quiet system, but I like it to be as quiet as possible. My Freezer 64 Pro has been lapped to reach an almost mirror surface (can provid...

Advice on Jamicon JF0825S
Hello, I need to remove hot air from the top of my CM Stacker, so I bought a Coolink SWiF 801, which was a real bad choice. The thing is rattling and vibrating, so all the top of the case vibrates merrily along. I tried putting a soft rubber insulator between the fan and the mounting, which reduced ...

my Titan TTC-CUV2AB experience on nF4
Hello! new user, old thread :) I was recently forced to replace my NB fan for it was dying with horrible noises. I wanted a clean, inobtrusive solution, and moreover I didn't trust going passive, so I chose a Titan TTC-CUV2AB. It's a VGA cooler but similar to the original cooler. It has all copper b...
