Re: Noctua NH-U12S Slim Tower Heatsink
Good to see review of this very interesting heatsink. Though what this review misses is comparison to NH-U12P. Would have been real interesting to see how one additional heatpipe fares againts possibly increased airflow impedance. In this user made comparison U12S wins when using Noctua's fan and 1...

Re: 305 Watts enough for this system?
We have a couple of the Optiplex 755s here at work. I measured the power of one of ours here with a C2D E6750, 4x1GB, and a Radeon X1300 to be about 62WAC idle and 103WAC under heavy CPU usage. The 7750 runs off the PCIe slot directly (no external power needed) so the max is 75W. The 150W estimate ...

Re: 305 Watts enough for this system?
Less than 150W I would think. A word of caution: Dell have been known to use a non-standard PSU connection in some systems. The connector might be the same but the cable arrangement may be different and potentially won't work. Google for more ideas on this and how to fix it. I checked on Google on ...

305 Watts enough for this system?
Hello, I've Dell Optiplex 755 mini-tower (mid tower) with the specs below and I'm sure it will run my HIS AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB DDR5 , Sound Blaster Audigy SE PCI sound card without issue but I'd just like to double check. A larger standard ATX PSU will fit and I've got one but the issue is cable m...

Re: Which uses less power Radeon HD 5450, GF GT210, GF 8400
Most load it will see is playing Mkv HD files with Core AVC. I want to install the video card to off load the processing onto DXVA . The 240 watts on the PSU is continuous output not peak load. I've upgraded similar systems with the same PSU and didn't have issues with far less power efficient compo...

Which uses less power Radeon HD 5450, GF GT210, GF 8400 GS?
Hello SPCR, I'm upgrading old Dell Optiplex GX280 for a friend that has 240 Watt PSU with 14 amps on the 12 volt rail. I'm looking to buy the cheapest, lowest power video card and my choices are the Radeon HD 5450, Geforce GT 210, Geforce 8400 GS. I know the system likely doesn't use more then 140 w...

The P280 is the best, Corsair, I don't care for the finish on it. Fractal is decent but you should also look at the Bitfenix Ghost. It's new slient case that's very much like the P280, Factual Design R3,R4.

It's too big :p It's perfect no larger then the Antec P280. It's included fans are 1200 rpm using the FDB bearing. No high gloss finish nonsense either and sells for $99 CAD at NCIX. I going to buy one, way better then the Solo or anything out there it's like improved version the Define R4. Full re...

SSD are to expensive and small to even be taking seriously. I don't buy into the hype about how wonderful they are. When they cost the same and provide that same capacity as traditional harddrives then I'll take them seriously. There just not worth it.

What's the current 'best' fast but quiet 7200 rpm HDD? Samsung F3? What's the current platter size? It's impossible to find specs on the Samsung / Seagate site. Does 1 vs 2 platters still matter? HD6770 or anything in it's range is going crawl at 1920X1080. I wouldn't go lower then the HD6850 with that resolution. I believe the Asus cards where the SPCR choice but like the poster said above buy any HD6850 and throw the Accelero S1 PLUS on it.

Because it's tested in open air with the noise meter only 150mm away from the fan. Note the noise meter only goes down to 30dB. So, who knows what the fan is actually adding to the baseline noise floor. Always look at the test setup in these reviews... SPCR tests 1 meter away with a 10dBA noise flo...

Fractal Design R3 is the most enclosed of all three it will keep the noise down vs the other two.
