thanks for the info, but unless I am wrong, those sold by directron are not PWM, they must not be if they are listed as 3-pin fans that come with a 4-pin adapter.
My only option seems to be to undervolt the fan via a resistor thus slow the spinning, of course will loose the speed-control.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a PWM fan for that header. 3-pin fans will work too. You are right, I tried that, but then the fan is running full speed all the time.
