thanks for the info, but unless I am wrong, those sold by directron are not PWM, they must not be if they are listed as 3-pin fans that come with a 4-pin adapter.
My only option seems to be to undervolt the fan via a resistor thus slow the spinning, of course will loose the speed-control.
Cheers, Lleo

I'm pretty sure you don't need a PWM fan for that header. 3-pin fans will work too. You are right, I tried that, but then the fan is running full speed all the time. As mentioned, the headers cannot be adjusted in BIOS to behave as 3-pin fan-headers. On another note, the 100mm slim PWM fan from Scy...

thanks for your reply. it seems very rare at least indeed. After much googling, I found this: Cooljag Everflow R128015BL http://www.everflowtech.com/products/product_detail.asp?product_no=8015P9 but it seems that is produced for OEMs to be used on heatsinks and parts. It can be found for ex. on JYCC...

slim 80mm PWM fan?

Hi All,
can someone please point me where to find a slim version (10-12mm thickness) 80mm fan that are PWM.

I have a custom build that fits only this type of fan, and the fan headers are all PWM, non-adjustable.
Thanks a lot, Lleo

Power usage by unused components - like audio, firewire

Hi All, Long time reader / first post: I know that this may be pushing the limits, but I was wondering how much power usage penalty does it mean to have components on a system that only functions as file-server? In other words, most newer motherboards come with a wide-array of components like audio,...
