Callous:
I very much doubt that a faulty fan will start a fire. Surely, there must be some sort of protection against overheating? Ball bearings can fail too.
What ever, if mine fails, my fan control will beep and flash red

It's a Norwegian computer "case". Posted mostly as a joke, but I am not sure that it's completely stupid. Think of a low power system with: -Passive powersupply (Silverstone ST30NF) -Suspended laptop drive -Ninja or HR-01 CPU-cooler w/o fan - One slow spinning Nexus fan, mounted in free air, blowing...

A case with Superior Air Flow
Before putting my last computer together, I was listening to all the fans at low voltage, one by one, both in free air and mounted in an open case. They were all inaudible. However, joined together and case closed, they became clearly audible. I have read the modus operandi about silent & cool cases...

I have had that problem with two ADDA-fans. The last one I replaced with a Noctua which now is running from an external fan control. I bent one corner on the PSU cover to route the wire to the outside.

Shobai Definitely, it's current that kills you, but current needs volts to get around (Ohms law). Being an old man, I must admit, that I don't know much about modern power supplies, but isn't still the cap sitting on the low voltage side of the transformer? The rating doesn't tell you more than how...

I did consider the SG03 very much. It's a very nice case. In a way, divided into three separate temperature zones. For the PSU taking fresh air directly from side vent, blowing it out back. Upper zone for CPU, cooled by upper front intake fan. Lower zone for VGA, cooled by lower front intake fan. Or...

I was considering this card for a case with positive air pressaure. Heat from the GPU escaping directly out of the case had been nice. Finally, I didn't go that way. Instead I went for the ordinary version (not OC) and replaced the cooler with Zalman VF900-Cu. At 5V that cooler is inaudible and the ...

Hi! sheniatOr As djkest says, swapping the fan is very simple. The hard thing is to know what to put in there. I am not quite sure about the Noctua. It works fine so far. Silent and sufficient cooling at 5V for my low power system. However, I wouldn't recommend it for high power systems, let's say m...

Sweet Little Computer, upgraded with 8800GT
This is my first post. However, I have been a regular reader for several years. Most of my knowledge about silent computers comes from these pages. I started this build, not because I needed a new computer, but because I needed something fun to do, as I retired from work a few months ago. Having a l...
