Right now I haven't settled on an orientation since I am still in the process of modding. I am going to set up a positive pressure case using a 250mm fan in the side with a fan controller to throttle it down while maintining adequate airflow. I'm going to filter the input air too. Depending on what ...

I figured I would have to do a few mods to the Nexus if I choose to go that route. A few dollars difference doesn't bother me but getting a quality, reliable heatsink fan does. I'm very surprised that SPCR doesn't have a recommended fan list oriented towards CPU heatsinks. I realize a lot of noise c...

From http://www.silentpcreview.com/article695-page2.html#nexus Closed flange screw holes that make wire clips unusable without modification, and sleeve bearings that are inappropriate for horizontal mounting or high heat situations. Together, these ensure that, while the Nexus is an excellent choice...

Fan for an SI-120
I plan on using a 120mm fan and a NoiseMagic NTM-3 controller on my Thermalright SI-120 heatsink. In reading the recommended fan list I find the Noctua and Nexus fans are not recommended for heatsinks. That leaves only the Scythe fans.

Noise vs Dust
I've decided not to worry about ducting until I get new hardware installed. On the CPU I'm going to use an XP-120 and a low noise fan off the reommended list. The power supply went out so I'm putting in a PC Power 510-SLI I have already. I'll most likely replace the case fans with something off the ...

A good review with pictures can be found at http://www.whiningdog.net/Reviews/PCs/Cases/20040405-RAIDMAX868/index.php. In fact, near the end they talk about cleaning up the cables and have a picture of the interior. This is exactly what my PC looks like -- a mess. The only difference is my SATA driv...

Raidmax Scorpio 868 noise vs dust
Hello! I recently acquired a used P4 3ghz machine with the subject case and the sound is making me nuts. The PC sits right next to me and is very loud. I have isolated the prime noisemaker as being the stock Intel heatsink and plan on replacing it with something like an SI-120 and a 120mm fan. I wil...
