slowing down the drive to 8x or lower (dvd) should eliminate most if not all of the noise.
what do you plan to use the drive with that would create such a terrible noise?

the ninja comes with the fan detached, so you don't have to do anything. It should indeed cool that cpu fanless just fine. the solo is a nice case with damping inside already, it will be very quiet out the box with the components you've chosen. the risk with multiple hd's is they start to vibrate ag...

Looking for a wireless keyboard with specific layout
I'm looking for a wireless keyboard, with the following keyboard layout: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7101/600besthotestkeyboardkbkf9.jpg note the position and shape of the Enter and Backspace keys. Ignore the multimediakeys and what the keys say, I just want a normal qwerty us-102 typing on i...

if your hd is mpeg2, many are available. VideoReDo TV Suite is nice, though not free. How it handles HD bitrates I don't know, iirc it should do fine. sony should have their own software, don't they? comes with the cam? h264 editing is alot more intensive and there aren't many good programs yet for ...

encoding xvid (using AGK) the 4850BE on stock 2.5Ghz is slightly slower than the E2160 on a 2.25Ghz OC, which was about the same as the 4200 X2, which took about 66% of the time of the A64 3000. x264 just takes too long on either to really make me care which is faster, I just leave it encoding overn...

Re: Redistributing wealth is communism
Because taxing is stealing, and stealing is wrong. Taxes are a protection racket. Fundamentally it's the same as protection money collected by the mafia. Government steals tax payers money using threat of violence. Back in the feudal period people paid taxes to sponsor the extravagant lifestyle of ...

you'd have to check the benchmarks to see how much faster that E5200 really is. as a comparison, the E2160 @ 2250MHz (that's oc'd) was about the same speed as the X2 4200 s939 I had when it came to encoding xvid. But other than in encoding I didn't see much change from the A64 3000+ I had before the...

Speed of Gigabit LAN - any differences onboard vs PCI(e) ?
I've had my 10/100 switch for quite a few years, and when xferring files between 2 pc's connected to it, I get a solid 9MB/s, which I think is perfectly acceptable and normal. While xferring from one pc to another, I started to move alot of big files, and thought I'd try a gigabit switch. With a the...
