Re: How much more life in my Seasonic 430W PSU?
I've got an M12-II 430W that's been on 24/7 almost every day since April 2009. I've cleaned it a few times for dust, it's going strong. Since these units use high quality caps and components, the worry about degradation is pretty much nothing to think about.

Re: Corsair CMPSU-650TX is too noisy
The later TX650s (not the V2 models though) were built by CWT, and had a 140mm which spun much faster than the 120mm ADDA fan in the early Seasonic made TX650s. CWT has more agressive fan profiles than Seasonic does. Not sure which version of the PSU you have, but you can easily tell by looking at t...

Holy... After you mount that huge sink, forget about accessing anything on your motherboard afterwards, lol.
As for the PSU, it's hard to make out the UL number attached to the PSU. So hard to tell who the real manufacturer is.

Re: Huntkey Jumper power supply review at Anandtech
Huntkey has pulled their act together lately, their 1200W also seems like a good product.
As for the ripple here.. To me it seems low and it's way within spec, so it won't do any damage.

Re: Need a quiet PSU for a HTPC
Was it causing any problems due to the higher temps? These PSUs can take a beating, they're supposed to work fine in a 40-50C ambient temperature.FredGarvin wrote: I originally got the Seasonic fanless PSU, but was concerned about the heat being that it's in a somewhat tight area.

The fan kicked in at ~450W. In the hot box. That's pretty impressive.

Oof... These are exactly the reasons why I wait after something new has been released. Nothing more annoying than having to swap out parts right away.

If it's intermittent and duration is random, it might be due to variations in AC quality on the electrical grid?

Well, the TT might not have the same incompatibility issues, afaik Corsair was one of the first companies to adopt the DSG platform, so it was probably bad luck that they ran into some childhood diseases as it were. I know that CWT isn't going to be SPCR's first choice when it comes to silence no ma...

It's a Channel Well DSG unit, the same as for instance the Corsair TX950, apart from the differentce in efficiency rating. CWT doesn't list any Gold DSG units of their own, so this one must be particularly tweaked for TT. I also used to own some really crappy units from TT in the past, but if you ge...

I've used my HX620 with a lot of different hardware, and its never made any kind of anomalous sound. I had a TX650 for a while, and it never did it either. That PSU is now being used by a work colleague of mine and it doesn't exhibit any strange sounds in his rig either. My current HX750 is 6 months...

Actually, the new Corsair AX750 and 850 are based on the X-760 and 860, not the old models. At least that was hinted from Corsair themselves. Also, a Greek site cracked an AX850 open and found that it was the more recent X-860 platform. Link, thread @ Jonnyguru.

650W? What the hell are most people going to do with that? It's been mentioned before, but manufacturers stay in the...

The Silencers and Seasonic based Corsairs are actually built on the same platform. IMO, Corsair are actually even more meticulous when it comes to their PSUs, and why their models make it to market a bit later because their techs want to make sure they are built to their spec, and them not being an ...
