In case anyone else finds this thread while searching the forum for info, there are three pics on this page of my site: http://www.Designamatic.com/Sys-SystemOne02.html
They show where I cut a notch for a long video card in a Solo case.

I went to a local auto supply store and got something intended to protect the edges of car doors. I suspect it's a bit wider than the C-tube mentioned by ScruffyDog. Probably covers slightly sloppier cuts but can't be bent in as tight a curve.

Antec 300 Suspension

Thanks to everyone for all the inspiration in this thread! I rigged up a suspended drive in an Antec 300 case. The drive bays aren’t wide enough to keep the drive horizontal, so I oriented it vertically. I only expect to ever need one drive anyway. I used good old StretchMagic. It was difficult to...

Thanks for the Cosmos link, I hadn't seen that one yet. Since it has a door, I would be removing it, just as with the P182. I haven't found any good photos of what the Cosmos really looks like when left open that way. The sides of the door panel appear to continue the outer silver trim pieces framin...

Thanks for the comments folks. @Christopher -- Yup, I considered that, but I just think the P182 looks a little, umm, "unfinished" if the door is left open or off. The frame around the door with the small ventilation slits would be left sticking out kind of awkwardly. Yeah, I’m fussy sometimes. :)...

Since you are interested in a high performance gaming system, you might want to consider one of the latest Intel P35 chipset-based motherboards, e.g. Asus P5K Deluxe. They appear to run a little bit hotter than the 975-based boards, but are faster and about the same price. Speaking of price, just in...

P182-alike Without Door?

All the great advice shared on this forum (thanks!) has convinced me that the Antec P182 case will be better-suited to quietly cooling my upcoming build than the P150 / Solo. One problem: I really don’t care for front doors -- I access the DVD drives frequently. Does anyone know of a case with sim...
