Thats because AAM is enabled. I did have it off for a while, but i couldnt see any noticeable difference outside of benchmarks between it off and on, so i keep it on now. Oh I didn't notice that. Looking at some wd6400aaks tests on the internet showed that changing AAM from the 254 setting to 128 a...

I got 2 640GB's last month, both are 65A7B's like Doveman. Since both give me the same result (give or take 1%), heres a result from just one (AAM enabled on both): A few MB more than SPCR's sample managed, but it looks to me that all the different model numbers perform very close to each other, ce...

No but the fan that it's fanless and claims 90% efficiency makes it very interesting. Why don't you try one, and report back any findings with an AC power meter? ;) I think that this 90% efficiency goes only for the DC-DC adapter. PicoPSU seems to be more efficient. Samsung has plans for 5400 rpm 334GB platter drives EcoGreen
Samsung global site has released specs for some new spinpoint drives named EcoGreen F DT. They seem to be using platters with the same density as the current F1. Rotational Speed is 5400 rpm. Idle power consumption seems to be reduced by ~35%.

EDIT: And i agree with bonestonne, a case that big isn't really useful in such a system. A smaller case will force the hot air to exit quicker and direct the airflow to the exhaust a little better. Think of it like this. Blow down a straw will have more cooling effect than blowing down a rolled up ...

The hdd manufcturers really seem to have big trouble getting the smaller models out. WD5000aacs is also to be found nowhere, although they said, it was shipping. Maybe the profit is not big enough yet with smaller models, lets hope they'll improve their production process soon.
