Samsung Syncmaster 226 BW 22" hums at less than 100% brightness even when using the software controls from the video card.

Fujitsu Siemens Scaleoview L22-w 22" is silent.

Thanks for initiating this survey. It will undoubtedly be helpful next time I'm in the market for a monitor.

Thank you very much for your fast reply. Do you mind if I ask you a couple more questions? Is L22W its full model number? As I've seen a few online with L22W as a prefix and then another number on the end. Do the speakers on it not make a noise either? Here's the info taken directly from the monito...

Can you confirm that the Fujitsu one doesn't buzz at all, even when you put your ear to the back and lower its brightness in a quiet room? I ask because I might try and buy one if you can certify that it doesn't buzz at all. Thanks. The Fujitsu I have doesn't buzz at all. Really, not at all. I don'...

I have two 22" monitors, a Samsung Syncmaster 226 BW and a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleoview L22-w. The Samsung hums at less than 100% brightness.

The Fujitsu doesn't hum at all but doesn't have as sharp a picture as the Samsung.

That's good to know. Breathing toxic fumes in the name of silence ain't exactly my idea of a good time.

Right now the cpu is running at 32 C with no fan so I'm guessing the trade off between lower cavity noise and added heat will be a positive one.

Welcome to SPCR!! Dampening mat doesn't silent that much computer. But its nice finishing touch to kill some high pitched noise etc. I have Be Quiet!'s mat in SLK3000B. The quality of mat was good and I recomend it. I don't know about Cooltek. Many thanks for the friendly welcome and helpful info. ...

be quiet! or Cooltek dampening mats?

Has anyone used "be quiet!" or Cooltekdampening mats? The mats will be installed in an Antec Solo which at the moment is running quiet and cool with only the Seasonic S12 II fan running. This is fine for the winter, but when summer hits and the fans come on I want to be ready. Jon Ps thanks to all f...
