Yeah, that H.264 footnote is a bit confusing.
Popcorn Hour machines look pretty cool, but I'm really looking for a solution that also supports watching (and recording) DVB-C TV signal remotely. So my options are limited and the best solution thus far seems MediaPortal.
Pascal.

1080p on Asus B204 & B206 (Atom N270 & HD3450)?
I've been looking quite some time for a HTPC that is friendly to my living room and plays 1080p at the same time. This seems like an impossible quest. But now there's Asus with its new B204 and B206 EEE boxes ( http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&l2=165 ). Now that seems like a perfect candidate...

I have recently built an HTPC and had my eye on the Asus M2A-VM HDMI from the beginning, especially for its great feature set. But as indicated by Pure456, I googled for this board together with the keyword "problems" and boy did that open a can of worms! Investigating further, I found that the gene...

Have you thought about the stand alone media players? Dlink, netgear, and now SageTV will be coming out with one. Yeah, I have. It was my original intention to go for a Netgear EVA8000, but three main facts have turned me in the direction of a HTPC: 1. Looking at the Netgear forum, it is clear that...

Thanks for your quick reply, Deebass! I also had the feeling that this would be the "best bang for the buck" case for my needs. Would you happen to have any suggestions for the best low noise processor cooler for a Athlon EE processor that will fit best in this case? Also, would you happen to know i...

AOpen H360 as HTPC (client for media server)
Hi, My intention is to build a simple client computer for a media server. The client computer just needs to play everything on the media server and needs no dvd player of its own or anything. I want to base the client on an AMD 690G board and I want to place it on the ground, preferably vertically. ...

Seems I've found the answer myself; this review (though in German) shows the measured temperatures of the Sapphire board: http://www.hardware-mag.de/hardware.php?id=454&page=12 . Seems that the Sapphire runs a bit cooler than the ECS 690G board, but it does not seem to be the huge difference that ha...

Any experience with Sapphire Pure Innovation HDMI (690G)?
Hi, Some good discussions have been going regarding the benefits and drawbacks of the different 690G motherboards currently on the market. It seems the Biostar is particularly interesting due to its very cool running Northbridge. However, for its feature set I'm more leaning towards the Sapphire Pur...
