WD WD20EZRX WD20EARX
Should I assume based on sources below that WD20EZRX uses 1TB platters? Which should I buy? Should less platters reduce noise? Are there any other good choices for silent 2TB drives? FYI:

FYI:
- minimum RPM of fans at 0% is ~1400 (probably too fast and loud for most readers of this site)
- somewhat crappy acoustic characteristics - fans are most silent at 30 and 34% speed (~1600rpm)

Re: Quiet / Noisy Monitor Survey
Asus VE278Q - high pitched whine, fortunately only hearable from few centimeters away, so silent in normal use
EDIT 15-09-12: Unfortunately over time it became slightly louder (now it has audible high pitched whine)

Re: Low Power Monitors from Samsung and Lenovo
my dell 2209wa does buzz and whine a little... you shouldn't settle for your monitor making noise. There are several ways you can troubleshoot the sound. When I first bought my 22" samsung, it was making a faint humming. After troubleshooting, I found out that increasing or decreasing the brightnes...

Re: Low Power Monitors from Samsung and Lenovo
oh really?:PIronically, the fact that they make no noise at all (with a few exceptions) takes them off our radar
last time I searched for a LCD I was able to find someone mentioning noise in all of the models that I considered
and my dell 2209wa does buzz and whine a little...

Mine makes buzzing noise if brightness is below 100 and slight whine at all contrast settings (higher contrast -> louder whine)
both noises are very quiet

For idle you can lower the mem speed and core speed/voltage to save power and run cooler. How do you lower the mem speed and core speed/voltage for idle? check the values in catalyst control center or other program ; they are probably already lowered by the drivers when in 2D mode About MEMIO tempe...
