Re: help: inexpensive cooler for Ivy Bridge 3570K
Das_Saunamies: I overlooked your reply above, thank you. Based on what you write the HD4000 iGPU will be enough for me gaming wise. I'll test run the system with iGPU and no overclock for some time and keep it that way if I'm content. I'm removing Noctua NH-U9B SE2 from my list. Now there's a duel: ...

Re: help: inexpensive cooler for Ivy Bridge 3570K
I currently have the Scythe Mine rev B cooler (150mm high) in the case. There is a little more than 2cm between the top of the Mine and the case side. Mugen III, the tallest of the three alternatives, is 158mm so it should fit (I'm assuming motherboards and CPUs haven't become markedly higher in rec...

Re: help: inexpensive cooler for Ivy Bridge 3570K
Very useful discussion so far, thank you! I've narroed down a list to three alternatives that cost roughly the same in the store I intend to shop parts. Which one would you go for? 1. Cooler Master Hyper 212 + Scythe Gentle Typhoon fan 2. Scythe Mugen 3 3. Noctua NH-U9B SE2 My aim: nearly inaudible ...

help: inexpensive cooler for Ivy Bridge 3570K
Please suggest a cooler for the Ivy Bridge 3570K CPU. I aim for low price and nearly inaudible at 3m distance. (If that noise goal is realistic. I've read conflicting reports on how hot the Ivy Bridge CPUs runs.) I will not overclock the CPU. For use in an ATX case. The case today fits the Scythe Mi...

Re: HDD silence - achieved
When putting the drive on foam at the bottom of the case, is there any smart way to keep the foam and the drive in place. The foam can be glued or taped I guess. But the drive? Tape for that too?

@mats: I'm no expert at either gaming or graphics cards so I can just give some subjective impressions, so take them with a grain of salt. My subjective impression is that this card is awesome! :-) It is normally inaudible. When under full load gaming I think I at some times can hear a buzzing sound...

Mats, well the store here in sweden with that low price now raised it 16$. I probably caused that by emailing and asking if these gigabyte cards where slower than a standard 9600 GT (I also found the price strangely low). The store verified that it's a standard card BTW, but with a heatsink. The goo...

I've just ordered one. It ought to give great (inaudible) bang for the buck. product page http://www.gigabyte.eu/Products/VGA/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=VGA&ProductID=2785&ProductName=GV-NX96T512HP "CPU3D Preview: Gigabyte GV-NX96T-512HP Silent Graphics Card" http://www.cpu3d.com/content/view/432...

Thanks for the feedback Anodyne! I live in Sweden so buying from Newegg is not an option (the shipping would cost to much). The 640 seems better soundwise, I agree with that after reading some about it. I would've bought it only if available here at roughly the same price per gigabyte as the 750. Af...

750GB - Samsung F1 HD753LJ 32MB or WD WD7500AAKS 16MB?
Hi, I'll buy a 750MB drive very soon. My two candidates are: Samsung SpinPoint F1 HD753LJ 32MB 750GB Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 16MB 750GB It will act as a secondary drive and be used mostly for relatively long term storage. So access speed or other speed parameters are not so important....

I have used M2A-VM HDMI on my home computer for a few months. It is great so far. Two issues though: It was hard to fit a large heatsink (Scythe Mine) onto this mainboard. I had to bend the fins on the onboard heatsink just south of the CPU slot to be able to tighten the Scythe Mine heatsink in plac...
