How does it compares to the Antec P182 in terms of noise/silence? Sorry for the late reply. I had basically the same parts inside the p182 and then moved them over to the fractal design one and in purely subjective sense I didn't notice any difference but the temps were a bit higher in the R2 one w...

I was somewhat bored during the holidays and decided to switch one of the nix boxes into a define r2 for no apparent reason. Throwing everything inside was quite fast and it's easy to do the cable management as long as the cables are long enough. Otherwise I'd suggest getting some extension cables f...

Claiming that linux has no hardware video acceleration is factually incorrect. When ranting it helps to get the facts straight.

Re: Buying new WD 1TB driver
The "problems" with WD green drives failing early is pure conjecture at this stage - they appear to be one of the most reliable drives around if you go by forums etc. Don't think I've seen a reported failure yet. As someone asked in another thread, a particular thread title on this forum is probabl...

Living rather close to a road is somewhat annoying at times. I assume that the only 100% working solution would be to move away but I guess thicker windows etc. could prove useful in short term. Interestingly enough the noise of normal traffic does not wake me up but even muffled speech gets me up i...

@ ugrakarma, sorry if we at times seem snobbish against TT. I really enjoy how less frequent flame wars are on SPCR compared to other sites, so if you felt offended I'm sorry. I still have an innate hatred for Thermaltake, though :-P No worries I'm just brand agnostic unless something melts my iglo...

I still have a TT big typhoon in one of the nix boxes and after a fan swap it has been more than ok but oh well considering this is spcr admitting anything remotely positive about 'thermalfake' seems to be a good way to get flamed. Thermalright hr-01 plus is a better choice than the sonic tower in t...

Naturally gigabyte started selling a passive model after I went for one with a fan by powercolor but back then waiting didn't seem like an option. If you have to find something negative about the powercolor pcs+ 4850 it doesn't blow the hot air out of the case like the HIS iceq models. Highly subjec...

I opted for the following myself: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_4850_PCS/25.html As long as you're not running furmark the fan isn't spinning up too much but as usual "it could have been a bit faster with the same noise level" although that never changes when dealing with hardware.

I've used a cheap no thrills cooltek one which was roughly around 10 euros. Depending on the case you might want to get some 5.25" adapter if needed. You'll have to deal with some extra cable clutter as well but that shouldn't be too bad. http://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/1043949_-...

I've lurked for a while but here goes the 1st blood... I had the misfortune of being tempted by the unusual design and airflow of the T2 case and getting the pro model before the new eco ones were out. The main problem with the case is that it isn't really quiet at all. Those two 2x80mm fans in the ...
