Re: MSI 560Ti too loud

The whole heatsink itself gets pretty hot. I haven't checked the heatspreader itself (I can do) but I would've thought that the heat transfer to the heatsink would be enough to let me know the heat is getting through the heatspreader? There's no gap between the heatsink and the heatspreader, it's se...

Re: MSI 560Ti too loud

It might sound nitpicky but I'm not picking on you in particular here, it's a general terminology issue  . The GPU you have is an NVIDIA GTX 560, the video card you have is an MSI N560GTX Ti Twin Frozr II. GPU != video card, a GPU is the main component of an NVIDIA video card and was an NVIDI...

MSI 560Ti too loud

This is the GPU I have: http://uk.msi.com/product/vga/N560GTX-Ti-Twin-Frozr-II-2GD5-OC.html I got it because all the reviews said it was both powerful and quiet. However, whilst I found the first bit to be true, the second not so much! The first card I had I had to RMA, but it was super quiet even u...

The Quietest 560Ti

I'm in the market for a 560Ti, but I want the quietest one. I've seen this topic kind've bashed to death but no clear winner seems to emerge, so I'd like to hear from those of you with any kind of 560Ti! Please state the type of card it is, for example MSI Twin Frozr II or Gainward Phantom, and just...

Quiet extractor / exhaust PCI slot fan?

http://i8.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/ec/0c/1d9d_1_b.JPG Hi folks. I'm looking for one of these, but quiet. I've got a Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card sitting right below my 8800 GTS 512, and it runs at 70C idle with the case side panel off! I thought it'd be a good idea to have one of these in the ...

Got it all installed. Though have left it a little late now for pictures. It fits fine on my motherboard, but was a pain to get the HSF / motherboard combination back into the Solo. Managed it, however, and now am getting CPU temps approx 7C lower than with the stock Intel cooler. This is with a Noc...

Well if I'm happy enough with the Ultima-90, that's an answer in itself I suppose. If I'm not, then I'll try the Ninja!

Besides, I can't believe there isn't one person on this board with a Minja in a Solo.

Mini Ninja vs Ultima-90 for Antec Solo E8400

The contenders: Thermalright Ultima-90 L115xW55xH139 460g Scythe Mini Ninja L110xW110xH115 580g Hi there folks, I wonder if you can't stop me scratching my head over this one. My build is a Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz on an Asus Striker II Extreme. I have the stock Intel HSF solution on there at the momen...

I'm looking for a quiet card for my new gaming rig. 9800 GTX is the front liner right now, so I'd be interested to hear what anyone has to say about it's noise levels too.

I've not purchased the RAM or motherboard yet, and I know you're probably thinking DDR3 is a bad buy. That's why I'm getting cheap stuff to begin with and then replacing it with better stuff down the line. I could wait to buy the whole thing later, but I've already been waiting 3+ years (long story)...

PSU for 2x 9800 GTX (TX750?)

Yes, you read that correctly. A while ago I posted a thread on the System Advice board, about a new build . I'll update that thread later when it's all working, but here is my current specsheet: Asus Striker II Extreme (790i) Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 OCZ 2x1GB DDR3 1333Mhz (to be upgraded when the rea...

So many fans, so much confusion...

Wow, I never thought choosing a few fans could be so confusing. I'm looking for a single 120mm fan for exhaust and two 92mm intake fans for an Antec Solo. I created a topic a few days ago in the System Advice forum with details of the build. I'm putting it off for now because I'm waiting for the new...

I have just learned of the ULTIMATE motherboard (at least for me). http://www.tweaktown.com/news/8434/index.html nForce 790i, with DDR3 and SLI capability. Originally I wanted a 780i until I learned it wasn't DDR3 capable, so now I'm gonna put the whole project on hold until this is released in the ...

I've taken in your advice, and had a look around. I've made the following changes to my set up: Motherboard: Asus P5E3 Premium Pretty much exactly the same as the MaxEx feature wise, but looks to be a bit better for air cooling. Gonna keep the Corsair DDR3 though - it's an X48 board so it supports 1...

PSU: You sure 520W will be enough? One of the web calculators reckoned I required about 600W of power, and I know they're based on rather high load temps but to be fair I've no idea how hard gaming pushes components in terms of wattage suckage. According to reviews the PCP&C is only 2-3 dB louder t...

Cooling and PSU advice for a gaming PC build

Hiya folks. Been a bit of a lurker for a while, but I need some advice so I thought now would be the time to sign up and post! How're you all doing? :) Okay, so I'm building a new computer. It's primarily a gaming computer, so performance is my number one concern (though I won't be overclocking), an...
